Some arms for my beloved fatherland
:
Aargau (C242):
The arms of the city of Aarau (though I'm not entirely sure when the city was founded - only that the current CoA is from the 19th century. The Habsburgian is of course not really an option...)
St. Gallen (C248):
City of St. Gallen
Abbey of St. Gallen (the abbey is hostorically much more important, but of course this CoA is the equivalent of family arms and doesn't make much sense of St. Gallen becomes a county.)
Schwyz (C245):
The cross was added after the CK period.
Grisons (C246):
I don't really understand why this province exists. First of, it's geographically totally wrong. Second, there existed three separate leagues there (would be republics in CK), but they were closely allied and replaced the bishopric of Chur. Ich verstehe eigentlich nicht, warum diese Provinz existiert. And lastly, the provinces namesake, the Grey League, was AFAIK founded after 1419...
Here's the CoA that existed for most of the CK period (the current arms of the canton that are currently in CK are the combination of those of the three leagues):
As the province lies in moder day Ticino, one could also use those of the city of Bellinzona:
Geneva (C239):
I've no idea where the Paradox CoA comes from (which isn't saying much). The current arms of the city of Geneva date from the 14th century (though it looks a bit ugly with the county overlay, admitedly):
Valais (C238):
There were no stars in the CL period (the arms are those of the Bishopric of Sion):
(Note: you must convert it to bmp 24-bit to use it in the game!)
