Wow, time flies and the first month of 2018 is almost over! I have been meaning to write an update what is happening at Colossal Order but have been too busy to get to it [add lame excuses here]... After receiving concerned feedback from fans if we are even alive I decided to take the time to write how 2018 started for us and how the year looks! As usual our publisher will kill me if I reveal anything I shouldn't so you will just have to wait for them to announce stuff when they are ready for it ;)

The Christmas break ended for us on the 2nd of January and everyone got back to the office well rested and eager to continue the work on Cities: Skylines. Last autumn was quite rough with the office move and staying on top of the development of Cities: Skylines at the same time. But it definitely was worth the trouble as the team has been really happy with the new office environment!

To get inspired for future development we have been collecting a lot of feedback from the forums, social media and the closed modding beta. I'm really hoping you will like the next thing we are working on for the game! As usual that's pretty much all I can say at this point. However please keep the feedback and suggestions coming as 2018 will still be all about Cities: Skylines over here at Colossal!

We want to continue delivering content and features you desire so we have hired new personnel to the team to do so. A new animator joined the art team and two new game testers will make sure we can have better quality content delivered. They will also read bug reports and feedback from the forums and log it into our internal bugtracking system. As the company grows bigger we also are getting help from a new 2D artist/office manager. Her job is to make sure our team is well hydrated and gets to eat cake often enough <3 She is also going to produce a ton of Chirper images, I hope :D

This means Colossal Order is now 23 people strong. Do you remember that when Cities: Skylines was released we were only 13 people? It was almost three years ago! We have now new offices, new team members, but same Colossal spirit. It's also truly amazing to see how invested you fans of the game are and we are super motivated to keep working on Cities: Skylines. So big thanks to everyone from the team and I :)
And Happy New Year everyone <3

Cheers,
Mariina

Thanks guys keep up the great work.

I hope the team can look into fixing traffic for us. Traffic lights only seem to have 1 funcion and that causes huge traffic problems simply cause we are missing an importang bit for traffic lights. Thats seperate channels for traffic turning and going straight. That way we could habe traffic flow much nicer whem turning traffic actually has a chance of turning unlike it is now where the lanes often get blocked :(

I'm hoping for something that would make the citizens more in-depth and interesting. Give them different wealth types and different lifestyles so that they're not exactly the same. Maybe give them needs that they have to fulfill in order to give them some urgency. That Subcultures DLC you had planned looked very promising.

When is the natural disaster coming to ps4 and terrain tool. Just curious. And I discover a bug about fire stations. I bulldoze 15 buildings that have burnt down but the firemen won’t do it. One thing when’s the next patch update. Thanks.

What I would like to see:

- more district styles (old city center, ghetto, slums, Brooklyn/New York style, Asian, Mediterranean, Soviet style, Barcelona/Gaudi style, etc.)
- more additions to public transportation (trolley buses, maglevs, elevated stations, metro being able to ride above ground)
- politics/decision making with for example elections, dilemma's, rewards/penalties and rioting cims.
- demographics. Different income classes, cultures and religions, all will their own needs and desires.
- the option to build a historic city. For example an early 1900's city with carriages, horse tram, steam trains, steam boats, velocipedes, early factories and cims wearing dresses or top hats.
- arid/desert maps and other new terrain features.
- walking/driving around in your city in first person view.

I meant they won’t take out the fire but I do bulldoze and I haven’t seen one fire truck but I built 30 fire stations but nothing
start your own thread here, adding screenshots (particularly of the traffic overlay screen).

EDIT: edited to add link to console bug forum rather than PC bug forum

I have some ideas what should be in new expansions.
I was thinking about Waterfront expansion: car ferries, houseboats, lift bridge, waterfront and beach, new canals and lots of types of bridges for one road. "Cities on a water"
Small expansions: New York Style for buildings and elevated metro, Britain Style for buildings and doubledecker, Asian Style for high buildings. Medium density for all buildings and more levels for tourist and leisure zone. Trolleybuses would have liked in a game, but I know that's problematic to put into the game. More import and export trading things could make better managment.
These ideas are only my dreams, but I like this game without these things. Thank you for this game. :)

You should post your suggestions here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?forums/suggestions-feedback.881/

Interesting. Do you work at Colossal?
no, i have just read far too many posts asking the same thing over and over again that I have CO's answer drummed into me.

How long does it take to release the dlc cities Skylines and terraforming tool on ps4. Just wondering hoping for natural disaster any ideas on how long it will take like 2 months or so each of the dlc. I know snowfall came out in November but I’m hoping this coming February we will get natural disasters and hopefully terraforming tool.

Not to over-analyze (not that it is all that subtle anyway), but this:

Suggests that the next DLC is decided, pitched to Paradox and it is probably too late for any suggestions for it. (Especially since we don't know what it is.)

And this:

However please keep the feedback and suggestions coming as 2018 will still be all about Cities: Skylines over here at Colossal!

Means a second DLC for 2018 (much like there were two last year) that is not decided / set in stone, and could still be influence-able with good suggestions.

was the first (as far as I know) mention of "Mass Transit" (though not mentioned by name, referred to only as "stuff").

2017-02-24 - First post/hint.
2017-02-28 - Paradox announced "Mass Transit".
2017-04-13 - Paradox announced release date for "Mass Transit".
2017-05-18 - "Mass Transit" released.

That does not, however, mean that the schedule/timeline will be the same this time around. Just something to feed the speculation. ;)

C:S was released on March 10th (2015) I wouldn’t be surprised we get something around this date..., and there’s a little allusion to this birthday on Mariina’s post...
