So I was thinking the other day about new ways to use marches and came up with the idea to build an empire using marches. You select one player to play the "emperor" and then depending on how many players you have, use the cheat code to vassalise a country to make them subjects. The rules are that the Emperor is only allowed to declare war using his subjects' CBs, no allies, the emperor is only allowed to capture trade company regions and the subjects aren't allowed to have a trade fleet.

The roles of the subjects will become to have a large army and/or war fleet. since the vassals will focus on military ideas and will, after a while, have huge armies (offensive and quantity 75% bonus) they will have a hard time to keep up with income which is where the emperor comes in. With his income he will have to carry his subject's economies (maybe forbid economic, trade ideas and gold provinces for vassals?).

To increase the difficulty of the game you could forbid navies/armies for some subjects and really force the cooperation of all parts. Tell me what you think =) (I might have posted this in the wrong place, and if I did I am very sorry).

This is an interesting concept, and I would be interested in playing it, but maybe you could carve up the area of influence that certain subjects would have in relation to their overlord. For example, you could have a march as Scandinavia, another as Eastern Europe, and yet another as Siberia/Steppe lands, and so on, so that they aren't struggling too much with the economy, and the 'Emperor' could get Central and Western Europe, in addition to the Trade Company Lands, another idea would be that there is almost like a sort of council, there is deliberation between Vassals as well as between them and the Emperor, more like a representative 'democracy', but the Emperor still has final veto power, and can exercise this at his choice. Yet another would be to have the new Client State function unlocked right away, and use those as the Vassals. I think that this idea has potential, but needs several different varieties to help keep it new, and to allow for different people's play styles.
