I'd like to see CM style events added to every bookmarked character (and a generation or two). As part of this suggestion, I'd also like to see a historical game mode where the AI takes advantage of these events to produce more historical outcomes. That's not to say that the player can't intervene or that this still produces a railroaded game. It's just that a Charlie or Old Gods start will still produce a game in which the Magyars successfully form Hungary, the Ruriks take Rus & Ruthenia, a bastard duke of Normandy successfully invades England, Seljuk invades Persia, and the Mongols create Empires with at least somewhat historical borders. AI Charlie will always form the HRE which then implodes into it's successor kingdoms, rather than creating Francia or having a claim on Asturias. The French, Scots, English, Hungarians, Russians, and the Spanish cultures will always form, unless the human player intervenes. An early era game start will still somewhat resemble the known world by the later eras, except where the human player is concerned.
Note that this is a toggle setting (like ironman mode) and it's only limited to new and old scripted events. Future expansions can build on this but, it's a good enough start. The AI can still do wildly ahistorical things outside of the major bookmarked characters. When you load a saved game, you can toggle it off if you get sick of it. Why would this be fun? Well, you can use history to your advantage or try to fight the tide of history. Want to do an early start in Britain? Just know that you'll have to fight off an "adventurer" in the 11th century. Want to form a lasting Umayyad Emirate? Well, just know that the cards will be stacked in favor of your Catholic neighbors.
