Client States

Hiya everyone,
Are client states supposed to occupy a diplomatic slot? And to also enable marriages and such?... This is somewhat confusing. They also don't seem to core sometimes, as I currently have two in my game, and one does but the other doesn't.
They also show up as vassals on the diplomatic view. Shouldn't they have some sort of new indication similar to Marshs?

They will make cores, but do not get them automatically. Other than that, they are exactly like vassals.

They shouldn't take a diplo slot but if you marry them they will.

They take a Diplo slot regardless of rm or not.

They did take a diplo slot for me without marrying them. Which seems to be contrary to what the dev diary said...

Oddly enough they also seem to have an issue in which they core any province you give them except their capital.

Contrary to what exactly? The dev diary quite clearly said they would be treated as very loyal vassals, vassals take diplomatic relations. I can see nothing in there suggesting that they aren't supposed to cost any diplomatic relations.

wiki says they don't take diplo slots so maybe it got changed at launch?
