I am soon to hit 22 and I wonder ... any good reason to make a client state and not take the land yourself ?
There could be a number of reasons, like not wanting to spend the points to core them yet. Or if they're not an accepted culture maybe you want to feed your client state provinces until it had enough that you would accept the culture as soon as you diplo annexed. Or maybe it's across the sea and you don't want to take the WE when it's occupied during war.I am soon to hit 22 and I wonder ... any good reason to make a client state and not take the land yourself ?

That's also risky to give client states non-cored provinces, apparently they only get claims on those provinces, so a large swath of land could make the state fall back in tech & end up with rebellions.
That seems to be a good reason to create client states. Take much more land than 100% OE, create a client state out of it to let it core it, and find it much easier (and much more immersive) to contain the resulting revolts because they only spawn in region of conquest, rather than yuor heartland and everyone of your colonies as well. It's still easier to "police" an overextended, but geographically limited, client state, than an over-extended world-spanning empire, though.

are the icons really generic or kinda cool? And how many are there approximatly? You can decide yourself. Pick a background colour, an icon and an icon colour and you're done. Also, the bg-colour will decide the colour of the state on the map.
