I started a game as Saxony and married my son off to Mathilda of Tuscany. A bit gamey, I admit but I didn't see this coming:
Somehow his wife managed not only to turn her idiot son into a bishop to exclude him from inheritance, she married her daughter to the Kaiser and made her heiress to both large swathes of northern Italy and my holdings in northern Germany.
My own duke hasn't managed to sire a son and his wife died. I intend to keep it that way so I can play on with his daughter. Again, a bit gamey but damn if that isn't awesome.
I'm really impressed with the Realpolitik the AI is capable of!
