Italy is practically a vassal to me yes, not in game, since that would cut his income severly, but I get to decide what he does And it's not like I forced him to it either, he needs me to survive.

"I'm not forcing him, I'm just going to kill him if he doesn't listen to me."

Or is it more like

"I'm not forcing him, but I'm just going to let everyone else kill him if he doesn't listen to me."

A variation of option two, I was not the one pushing for him to accept Spanish overlordship, it sort of came by itself as he became dependant of my protection. And I have not forced any decisions upon him, but as it seems I am the most experienced player out of us two he listens to my advice (both mine and my other vassals, Monmartys Denmark )
