Alright, so I get into a second war with a militant isolationist Fallen Empire. The bastards won the first one instantly (I just ate the humiliation and let my monarch get killed because I wasn't quite ready), but for round two we are mostly evenly matched. The war drags on for 30 years or so, with neither of us gaining much of an advantage. (We were raiding each others stations.)

There weren't even large naval battles. The largest was when I killed off a couple of defense platforms (10k a piece).
We eventually signed a white peace.

What was weird was that another Fallen Empire across the galaxy decided to wake up during the war. What I'm trying to figure out is why that happened. I thought Fallen Empires only woke up if another Fallen Empire was defeated. Did my victory over the defense platforms cause them to wake up? It couldn't have been the peace treaty, because we hadn't signed it yet. There was and is no crisis in play. The Fallen Empire that woke up was not at war with anyone. We were also not even 150 years into the game.

I hadn't conquered or colonized any planets recently, so I don't think I crossed any thresholds in terms of power. My techs were really crappy at the time (I hadn't finished researching the nice techs I salvaged).

Did they just randomly decide to wake up? I kind of thought they only woke up under certain conditions related to crises or the power of the younger races.

I'm wondering as well. I had a military isolationist empire that directly bordered me wake up and declare war 106 years into the game. That one was an immediate quit for me as half my empire was in the form of vassals.

ive had a materialist fe wake up the moment i researched sentient ai, but no other fe wanted to wake up, i even gave planets to the xenophobe fe next to the awakened one to cause border friction but nada. even had a buddy become their signatory and colonize a holy world and that caused the fe to war each other but they didnt become awakened

I read somewhere that they awaken based on random chance triggered by fleet power of strongest empire and difficulty chosen before game?

So if I put it on Insane Difficulty and have total fleet power of 60K, does that give me a good chance of awakening one of those guys?

That and... let's throwing a nice spicy mix... activating all 3 end-game crisis at once?

Well on post I read, on normal its 40k and on insane its 10k iirc. And its yearly chance, so I guess it might still take a while depending on how big chance is and how much it is modified when you pass the thresshold.

10K? You mean I just need 10 thousand fleet power and there's a good chance that a FE wakes up? The more fleet power the player nation has, the greater the chance of an awakening?

Then why hasn't the 4 fallen empires surrounding the United Nations of Earth awaken yet!? I even shoved the Unbidden, the Prethoryn and the AI Uprising in their butts! Still, they do nothing!

Like I said, I'm not sure what the exact chance is, I read its rather low and its yearly thing, if it doesn't trigger, won't trigger for another 12 months I guess? And even then its possible that post I read was misinformed, though it sounded like they checked files.

Is there a console command of sorts to force start an awakening of an FE?

In my curremt MP Game; the Xenophile Fallen Empire woke up, for an as yet undetermined reason.
The previous contact with it has been giving it Pops for its preserve.
The only war involving a Fallen Empire had been a quick curb stomp of a "Metalhead" NPC Empire colonising a Holy world.

The Players had fleets about 10k to 15k , there were two large NPC empires slowly Expanding by absorbing the smaller ones, but defensive packs had hemmed them in and the rest of the Galaxy was stable bar a few boarder conflicts, as we had reached the Grand Stratergy section of the game, little to no empty space left.

The Xenophile waking up, woke up the Xenophobe Fallen Empire and the War in Heaven Started, and is still going, with the Players starting the League of Non Aligned Powers, but we were crushed.

For me it happened the moment my overall strength became equivalent to theirs. I had superior naval capacity, equivalent fleet strength and pathetic technology compared to them.

In the first war with the FE did he attack you? If so and you sign a white peace maybe the game treats that as a defeat for the attacker(the FE) and thus opens up a condition for awakening; the defeat of another FE.

He attacked me, and I accepted his terms (humiliate). It wasn't a white peace.

From my experience the trigger is 60k on normal, 50k on hard, and 40k on insane. The MTTH is relatively small as it hasnt taken more thank a couple years after passing that threshold to fire. The trigger is for any empire in the game, not just the player. Also, if you are in a federation the fleet will be part of your total fleet while you are president.

From the Stellaris Wiki:
Awakened

Giants in the playground... - player response to the first Awaking Empire
A Fallen empire in this state stops being passive and attempts to shape the future of the galaxy, having considerable technological and starting resource advantages even compared to mid- or late-game empires. The following rules apply to standard awakening (which might trigger a war in Heaven):

  • At least 100 Years must have passed, their Fleet power is above 40,000 and they are not at war.
  • A default Empire getting too strong (40k/50k/60k Fleet power, respectively in Normal, Hard and Insane difficulties) or has Conquered a Fallen Empire World
  • There has been no Awakening and No Guardians of the Galaxy Awakening.
  • The MTTH is 50 Years, modified as following:
    • If there is more then one Fallen Empire in the game, the MTTH is multiplied by the number of Fallen Empires
    • If an Empire has 60k/80k/100k Fleetpower, the MTTH halved
    • If a Fallen Empire Planet was taken, the MTTH is cut by 10
    • If the Global Flag "high_awaken_chance" is set, the MTTH is cut by 100. There is no event that set that flag
  • This is not an Endgame Crisis
  • The Fallen Empire's entry in the Contacts list is updated with a new name and is placed in the "Others" section instead of "Fallen Empires".
  • Because the Awakened Empire is a new Empire replacing the Fallen Empire, a new first contact will occur.
The awakened empires will change their government type to Awakening Ascendancy and participate in galactic affairs more openly and aggressively with their own agenda. Anyone choosing not to obey their orders could face a long, tough war with the overwhelming might an awakened empire can bring to bear. However, their fleets are the most reliable guardian forces when the entire galaxy is under threat of endgame crisis.

I read somewhere that they awaken based on random chance triggered by fleet power of strongest empire and difficulty chosen before game?
That's right. It's in the wiki.

If the Global Flag "high_awaken_chance" is set, the MTTH is cut by 100. There is no event that set that flag.

Can you elaborate on what the Wiki means by "Global Flag"? Is it one of those console commands?

That explains why @Emperor Empoleon was having difficulties.

4x Fallen Empire = 4x the time.

Are you kidding me!? I always thought that having 4 of those dastards increases the chance off the galaxy to go crazy! It actually lessens the chance?

Speaking of fallen empires, is there a way to increase chances (with any means) of a non-opposite FE going at each other? Example would be a xenophone awakened empire declaring war against a spiritualist awakened empire.

Is there also a way to start a "special" War in Heaven with all 4 Awakened Empires going at each other?

Sorta. It's like a marker which various events will look for the presence or absence of. Some events will trigger when the flag is on, others when it's off.

Speaking of fallen empires, is there a way to increase chances (with any means) of a non-opposite FE going at each other? Example would be a xenophone awakened empire declaring war against a spiritualist awakened empire.
Not at present. You could awaken them both and have the two go at it in a normal war, but no Heaven War.

Is there also a way to start a "special" War in Heaven with all 4 Awakened Empires going at each other?
Not at present. Check the mods, maybe someone made one.
