Claiming King Titles

Hopefully I can squeeze in a quick Q while this section of the forum is overloaded with Aztec anxiousness (which I think is cool as hell). What are the different ways you can claim a King title as a vassal that isn't related to the ruling dynasty? Is it even possible? To explain the situation: two of my friends and myself are vassals of France, and we are all jockeying for the throne in a sort of competition. I, however, can't seem to thing of a way to do it. Probably just a brain fart, but what are the ways? The ones I can think of are:

1. Marrying into the ruling dynasty in such a way where your heirs stand to inherit.
2. Usurping the title (is this even possible as a vassal? Can I own so much de jure land that I could seize the title from him?).

And that is it.

From what I understand, you can only fabricate claims with your Chancellor on Duchy and County titles. Is there any other ways to seize the throne without being related to the dynasty? For cinematic effect, I would like to march on Paris and install myself as king, but I understand if that is not possible.

You can ask for papal blessing for your military invasion.

If you have a strong or weak claim on the Kingdom of France then you could ask the pope for an invasion cb.

If you do not have any claims on the king title then you need to have enough de jure land to usurp/create the kingdom of france. But first you would have to win your independence from the French king. Then once you win your independence war you will be able to usurp the kingdom of France title if the French king isn't active in any other wars.

I wasn't even aware you could do that. What are the conditions to initiate that plot? Do you just have to plot against your liege, I assume?

Most people tend to just keep taking land inside France until they are large enough to declare independence and then usurp the title, but this is often not the fastest way. If you're lucky enough to be able to get an invasion sanctioned then that is great, but otherwise I tend to find that it's sometimes quicker to keep an eye out for young claimants to the title and marry them to your character or heir. When you are strong enough, just press the person's claim and one of your future characters should inherit France. Plots to fabricate claims on the kingdom are also good, but sometimes it's difficult to achieve, and if you fail, you can be in quite a bit of trouble in some cases.

It will appear in your intrigue screen as a plot option, but from what I understand, you need to have your primary title as a de jure duchy of France in order to be given the option. If you have a duchy in de jure France that just isn't your primary title, then try switching your primary title to that one and see if you now have the plot option. If all your duchies are in de jure Aquitaine, then I don't think you can get the plot option, but if the King creates the Kingdom of Aquitaine then you should be able to plot for that.

Go to the current king`s character screen and click the small plot button on the left of him. It takes the place of the "ambitions" button. Then select the plot you want, and if you are a De Jure vassal of him you can start a plot to fabricate a claim on his title.

Sometimes pope grant you invasion CB on your neighbour for free, if he realy dislikes him/her. It's some kind of event.

You can also start a faction to install yourself as the king if you are his vassal.

Really?

I know you can be given a claim on your kings title, if he has free investiture and refuses to change to papal. I have never seen the pope grant an invasion for any AI.

he just gives a claim. another really handy way to claim the king title with the new factions is plot for elective, and then eithe rmake sure youre chosen, or set up a NEW faction, this time for yourself(as in elecitve everyone who can be electe can start a faction for themselves). only requirement is needing to be liked
