I think Byzantium has the strongest claim to the area, especially as they currently get to keep the provinces the Seljuks took as their default area.
(given that it was a remnant crusader state, it should definitely not go to Syria or Armenia (they didn't pledge to Cilicia when it was around))

The pledging issue is that since I plan that Cyprus should be degraded into a duchy in 1337, making it part of Byzantium could lead them to pledging to Byzanz and making them part of Jerusalem could lead them to pledging to Naples, who is also Jerusalem.

Naples is also Jerusalem?

If they don't hold any land there, wouldn't it be better to reduce the title to a claim?

Afaik they were historically recognized as the king of Jerusalem back then. It would be fairly problematic to have a claim on a title not existing.

Wasn't a claim supposed to be enough to recreate a title once you hold just one province in the area?

Ah, could be. I never figured out that works though.

I believe this is not thought to be a mod, rather included in next beta, in which case you just need to wait till a proper thread appears saying '1.05 first beta is out!' or somesuch..;)

Last call for changes to the setup in first post, finishing it up atm.
Roma+Orbetello as a duchy of their own (Orbetello makes little sense in Tuscany anyway) OR Roma to another duchy!

Edit: also a rounder Mesopotamia, as detailed before, since that isn't included in the first post yet.

Can you remind me how was Mesopotamia supposed to be rounded? :eek:o
I just took away the pics from my uploading thread, and I didn't keep any copies around... :eek:o

Basically, though, it can be summarised as:
* The topmost province of Persia to Armenia
* The topmost province of Mesopotamia to Armenia
* Of the 5 easternmost Syrian border provinces, all but the northermost one to Mesopotamia
* The easternmost province of Arabia to Mesopotamia

IIRC, that is.

Optionally, we could also take the 2 Persian provinces at the middle of the western border and give them to Mesopotamia. I just saw that it'd make Mesopotamia look even better, while giving Persia a more interesting-looking border.

Only that there is a province medina and there is there isn't historic precident for having the duchy named after the province, which is the case for the ones that are still left.

Well, the region never was never made a Christian duchy by a crusader coming from far away, so historical precedent is kinda problematic ;). There is plenty of duchies named after cities after all, many of them fantasy ones.
