Or if she is of your dynasty. Also depending on the succession law your son would most likely inherit the title.

Question. Would she become independent or a vassal of Scotland?

You should still press it anyways if you have Gavelkind, Primo, or your firstborn son is elected as heir.

Even if he inheirets the duchy first England is a King title. He will take the highest title as his primary and basically rip the duchy out of Scotland.

Even if you two do not have the same heir getting dynasty blood into other realms is good practice.

Only if she's already a duke in your realm., otherwise, she'll be independent

Landing a claimant is enough for them to become your vassal afterwards; rank doesn't matter.(make them a baron)
It's only inheritance where the rank of the titles matter.

Though landing a woman is usually problematic.
Also make sure the title you're wanting to claim isn't agnatic; can't push a woman's claim on an agnatic title. (Unless you're playing as the woman I think)

It's usually better to let your (male) heir inherit the claim, and then push that. (Either as his father, or as him)

if the character is already your vassal, they will remain your vassal, UNLESS the title you win for them is the same rank as your highest title. I BELIEVE that, if they are of your dynasty, they will become your vassal when you press their claim. otherwise, they become independent.

To clarify, if the vassal is landed, you will keep them as a vassal so long as the claimed title is not equal or higher tier than your own title. Otherwise they will take your land with them.

For courtiers, or the unlanded. Same principle as above. Claimed title that is lower tier than your own title = vassal. Unlanded of a different dynasty? Gone.
