Claim Mandate of Heaven as Shogun?

Hi all,

The wiki states: “Any non-subject nation belonging to either the pagan or eastern religion groups can claim the Mandate by declaring war using the “Take Mandate of Heaven” casus belli which becomes available if they neighbor the current emperor and don't have a truce with them.”

As Oda Shogunate, I have Ming as my neighbour in 1510, we’re at peace/no truce, I’m of an eastern religious group (Shinto), yet I don’t have that CB. It appears only if I form Japan, which abandons the Shogunate.

Would anyone know why? Is it because Shogunate prohibits switching the government type?

Bummer... Ming would take a ton of Diplo to conquer, unless I slow down and go for Religious ideas first...

I think you can conquer one province from each Chinese TAG, release daimyos from them and do reconquest cb.

I think you can conquer one province from each Chinese TAG, release daimyos from them and do reconquest cb.

Unfortunately, you can’t use the reconquest CB with Daimyos... it’s disabled, for “balance” I’m sure.
