  • Crusader Kings II
Hello everyone,

I've purchased CKII and all its DLC about a year ago, and then played the game on my Windows 7 laptop. This laptop died, so I had to buy a new one. I currently own an HP that runs on Windows 8.1. After I installed Steam, I installed Crusader Kings II on my pc. I booted it up to check if it was working, and the menu of the game opened up. I checked all my mods and DLC's and then quit the menu. A day later, when I actually wanted to play the game, I booted it up again - but nothing happened. The window "CKII is preparing to launch" popped up, disappeared, and then... nothing... I followed all the steps and protocol Steam offered me. I messaged their helpdesk over and over again, but I only get bots answering my mail (which pisses me off). I reinstalled both Steam and CKII over and over again, I ran it as an administrator, I did everything I could find on the internet.

Could anyone help me, because I bought ALL their DLC and I just want to be able to play this game.

I have the same problem - installed CK2 on a new laptop. I get to the start menu, choose play, and then it loads up to the flags. Then, the runtime error occurs. I also noticed that the loadings screens are oversize - meaning the images are too big, only showing the top left quarter of what I should see.

Please, help.

Edit: Fixed with 2.2.1.1 and switching from borderless to widescreen!

This worked. Thanks, I've been trying to figure this out for weeks.
