CKII will not start from steam.

I have tried to start CKII from steam and it will not start. I get the pop up to start the game and once I press it nothing happens. I re installed it and verified the cache of data but still nothing. Any advice?

Having the same problem after the latest patch, worked ok before.

When trying to start (Win 7 / 64, latest AMD Catalyst drivers): "CK2game.exe has stopped working."

And afterwards when verifying the local files: "1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired."

Then you certainly have an installation problem. Try a full clean reinstall: move any valued save games elsewhere and uninstall the game from within Steam. Then manually delete ALL the CK2 directories from under BOTH the Steam and MyDocuments folders. Now reinstall the game from Steam, and run the Verify just to make sure it all came down properly.

That looks basically fine. please post your CK2 settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.

Did all this, didn't help. Have to assume this is a patch/DLC - related issue. My friend's game is working ok from Steam (he has no DLCs, I have most of them, Old Gods, etc.).

But are you still getting the 1 File Failed to Validate thing? If so that is definitely NOt a game issue at all. I have all the DLCs and this is not happening to me.

Problem solved, had to add ck2.exe to Comodo's Defense+ trusted files - section. Then the file downloaded ok from Steam.

Then you must have had a different error code than the OP, you would have got the Just-in-time error no doubt (as per the sticky Known Issues thread above). It always helps us if you mention these things!
