Among the countless qualities of Crusaders Kings 2, the ability to create such dense mods was my favorite.

I'm very excited about Crusader King III but I'm worried about the future of mods (especially with the arrival of 3D).

I then thought that if Paradox could take control of the universes that the main CK2 mods have exploited, it would be a fantastic idea. Whether it is a DLC, an expansion or even a complete game, I think the audience will be there.

What do you think, everyone ?

If we take I:R as the baseline of moddability, then you shouldn't have to worry.

What do you mean by this, that PDS should make dedicated CK games centered around Game of Thrones, WoW etc.? Bit late so I'm honestly a bit fuzzy from trying to understand your question.

Thank you for your answer,

It's not a question, it's a thought I had and I share it. In the idea yes, probably not a whole game it's a little extreme but an extension that would make us play in these universes with the know-how of the Paradox team would be really nice.

These mods (A game of thrones, Guardians of Azeroth etc...) are very popular and releasing something more "official" would not be a bad idea.

Well, for starters, if Paradox starts getting involved in mod making, copyright starts to become an issue. which means no more Game of Thrones mods, no more Guardians of Azeroth etc.
Secondly, the developers shouldn't be directly involved in the modding community, just look at Bethesda nowadays, and how making some official involvement with modding works out.

That would be a terrible idea since modders can make stuff that Paradox cannot without being slammed with copyright lawsuits. Thats also the reason why Paradox will ensure that CK III is as mod-friendly as possible due to the popularity of said mods in CKII.

Is there anywhere to read up on what's been improved in Imperator in terms of modding over past games?

These mods (A game of thrones, Guardians of Azeroth etc...) are very popular and releasing something more "official" would not be a bad idea.
Given your examples I don't think you're very familiar with CK2's modding.

Modders of total conversions are teams of people who worked on the mods at different paces and at different times during the development of each mod. This means that contrarily to full games or extensions, mods will go through very different states of playability and refinement. It's not rare to have a big mod being completely playable in a given update, then having to wait for months to just have an updated version while half the map is still not enjoyable because of a bug or an unfinished feature.

It's not just a legal problem. Modders of total conversions have a completely different way to work and make design choices.
Paradox could work with modders of smaller mods like the ones that fix bugs or interface problems though.

As a side note, the Warcraft mod is still in its infancy and it's a bit early to know whether it will earn its place among the best CK2 total conversions.
