My justification as follows.
The default goal for any Karling game.
Once you are even a king, this becomes easy. Anti-pope, press claim. Just land an uncle or brother as the bishop in question. If they are dethroned, it'll still count.
Not a matter of luck so much as actually contributing to the crusades called. There is bound to be more than 2 crusades once you are decent sized. As for KhanXLT's question, I guess so? I suppose converting to a heresy and defending against the crusade fro France would be acceptable, though it isn't what I had in mind.
The only really luck-based parts here are the cognative traits and education. I know because about 75% of my rulers end up more or less like this when I personally educate them, at least by the end of their lifespan. The cognative traits can even be influenced, as marrying a woman with any of them gives you a higher chance for the respective traits. As for the education, I recommend finding a good military mentor, saving the day before your heir (with a cognative trait) turns 16, and reloading till you get one of the military traits. Which is more likely than not, honestly. Remember people, save-reloading is allowed, and while I discourage it, it may be necessary for games like this. Maybe not, you never know.
One more note is that if someone gets really close to the uber-ruler goal at one point, but fails one part of the goal, let me know anyway. I may end up toning it down just a bit if no one can get it.
@mudcrabmerchant - Any game with Alans (or Georgians for that matter) is sort of on hold until I can come up with some way to give a challenge other than "Survive Byzantines/Russia/Mongols". Your idea is decent, I'll have to look into it a bit more though to be sure.
* Reclaim the Holy Roman Empire or Francia, with respective De Jure territory based on the title you claim
The default goal for any Karling game.
* Put at least 3 Karlings on the throne of the Papacy
