shit did I only post the screenshot with those last 2 provinces outside?
Yes. The latest screenshot you posted is still missing Orkney, up in the north of Scotland.
If you stay at war permanently and are quick on the trigger you can farm gold just by moving around razing holding after holding
Oh yeah, I knew that. It's the only way I can afford to keep mercs in the field early game.

Well, that's true I suppose. I've never started a game and decided to keep restarting it until I got a good council. I guess it never occurred to me. I like playing the crappy hands the computer deals out. Not everyone does. That's understandable. But there are lots of ways the RNG can totally screw you in this game. I've had games as a count where I had a 20+ chancellor and it still took me 50 years to fabricate one claim even moving him around my neighbors periodically. 50 years. That's longer than most of these challenge games are taking to complete. Almost everything that happens is completely luck based. You can have 490 piety saved up for an invasion and your ruler just drops dead for no reason, totally screwing you out of getting a fast time. Actually, this is starting to sound like an argument for why people should be able to reload as much as they want, so I'll just let it go.
I'm going to continue playing the game the way I play it and you guys play it the way you play it. As long as everyone is having fun, that's the important part.
Piety for Britannia was because I conquered all of Englands holdings, meaning all those temples paid for it.
What? I'm not sure I follow this. Are you saying you get piety for sacking Bishoprics? That seems a bit strange. I never noticed.

It sounds like you're playing the game about the way I play normally. I do good to conquer a Duchy or two with each character. Mostly, once I acquired my de jure borders, I fight wars for my allies and expand through marriage or pressing claims acquired through marriages. The funnest thing for me is to play as a Duke. I've got one game in the 1280s where my character's brothers own 2/3rds of England, Ireland, and Britanny and I'm still just a Duke. If I played normally the way I do for these challenges I would have a World Conquest before the Mongols arrive and most likely would quit from boredom way before that.
It's still pretty interesting to play this way though, for short fast games. It makes you think about how to be more efficient. Although, honestly, it has been decreasing my fondness for the game slightly by highlighting some of the weaknesses in the mechanics. Once you discover some of these tricks it is pretty hard not to take advantage of them when you get into a tight spot in the game. =P
