Hi, I have similar problem (but I have DLC, and game crashes after 3-4 years). Most of my crashes is when autosave progress. CK2.png

yep, in my case didn't help. Game works much faster, but still crashes after 3-4 years

Now i reinstall Win7 (with full format) and i will check is it helps.

ps: I have also problem with some texts in game, I'm don't know that this 2 bugs have any connections, but can you tell my how to fix it?

That looks like a corrupt installation, do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

I apllyed the beta...it worked, but after 10 years it crashes again :-/
Is the crash just in one particular saved game, or any new game you start also?

Please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the end of the "Sound devices" section for brevity) and your Documents/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log . Open setup.log in notepad and search for 'checksum', post that line only here too please.

This is fresh install, after full format. Steam verification said it is all ok, but bug is still on...

Is the crash just in one particular saved game, or any new game you start also?

In my case it crashes in in both situations. But now, after reinstall Win 7, i take a test game and i played 20 years without any crashes. I installed different GPU drivers, maybe that was problem? I will test more.

I assume this was taken with the mods loaded - what do you get with no mods? And, do these problems occur when you play with no mods loaded?

[systemsettings.cpp:202]: System memory: 1024MB
In Steam right-click on CK2, properties, local files, and click on Browse Local Files. Exit Steam. Right-click on ck2game.exe, properties, compatibility tab. In there UNcheck everything, there should be no compat settings set except possibly the Run as Admin User one. Then move up the directory structure to teh Steam folder and do teh same to steam.exe . As you can see, this is restricting you to 1gb memory for the game which is not enough.

And, you didn't answer my questions about mods - does it crash with no mods active? Do you get the right checksum with no mods active?

I dont know that it will help you, but in my case reinstalling windows and taking older GPU drivers solve crash problem (I hope so, I was playing about 20 years without crash - no mods on).

A few are game bugs, but if it's widespread it's a corrupt installation. Is your checksum correct? This is with no mods active?

I'm truly amazed by the number of people coming out of the woodwork who have 32bit Windows, but more than 4gb of system memory installed. Something like every second or third person with problems under 1.8 is like that, it must be very widespread. Is it not generally known that 32bit Windows restricts you to less than 4gb of memory? Did someone sell you a memory upgrade and not check that? Very concerning, I have to say.

In any case as you can see you are seriously short of available memory.
3,062 - 1,275 = 1,787MB - and the game requires 2gb. Any chance you can switch to 64 bit Windows soon? That will fix your issues I'm sure.

In the meantime try this workaround:
1: Open Command Prompt (it's in Accessories in Vista)

2: Set it to be in Admin mode http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc947813(v=ws.10).aspx

3: Paste this in: bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2560

4: Restart


5: If you ever need to undo: BCDEdit /deletevalue increaseuserva

Do you also have an Nvidia card ? If so, which driver did you have and which did you now install ?
I ask, as some people had crash problems with new Nvidia drivers and ElRey92 also has an Nvida. Maybe his problem can be solved by an older driver.

Don't know if it's still relevant but could be (assuming that the temporary fix was just a localisation file(s), then you can probably ignore that. Don't know.)
- Localisation text has numerous errors in the Steam Polish edition, even when played in English. To fix right-click on the game in Steam, Properties, Language, and set to English, not Polish (or if English already, set to Polish - wait for update - then set to English again) - wait for Steam to download the new localisations. Note this is not the same as changing the language within the game.
UPDATE: temporary fix provided by Cenega is attached to this post.

I'm truly amazed by the number of people coming out of the woodwork who have 32bit Windows, but more than 4gb of system memory installed.
Something like every second or third person with problems under 1.8 is like that,....

I know using windows 32 bit with 6 GB is a waste, but a friend of mine installed this on my pc after an operation, so now I have to keep this <.< I told him to install 64x but I didn't listen to me...I will follow your advice, thank you!

An open question is:
"Do you get the right checksum with no mods active?"

You see the checksum in the launcher top right.
As if the checksum is not the right one, then a complete de- and reinstallation of the game might be a thing.
