How do hybrid cultures impact regal titles? If I'm a Greco-Persian emperor am I a Basileus or a Shahanshah? Or do I get to pick?
I suspect as a Greco-Persian you'd be Basileus, but as a Persio-Greek you'd be Shahanshah (at least by default).

Hopefully if the system loses its mind it defaults to "Emperor" or "High King", and doesn't resort to something like $title_ruler_tier_5 ...

Yeah they said "naming practices" would be handled by choosing one or the other, so either it comes witht the names or heritage, or it's a seperate thing but you will be able to chosse, and it will be tied with things like alternative names for places.

I'd expect that to be reasonable. Having the titles chosen (consistently) by language or cultural pillar would work very well, possibly with a choice to over ride it by entering your own titles (although that would be a lot of text boxes, with 5 tiers of feudal, tribal, city, and theocratic titles, plus possibly names for the tiers of holding as well.

Yeah, 5 tiers multiplied by number of government types, then multiply that by at least three for the two sexes, and at least for the two higher tiers you'll also need Prince and Princess (and possibly Queen/Empress Mother). Also, name for your Knights is culture-dependent, too (two boxes - singular and plural - because you can't just rely on 's' even in English, not to mention other languages of the game; speaking of which... it's pain). (You could go fancy and make councillors also culture-dependent but I think that's not part of vanilla.)

And then one is forced to think of realm names, like Lappland for Saami...

The default name for the kingdom is Sápmi, and is called Lapland if held by an Anglosaxon, English or Scottish ruler, and Lappland if held by a Norse, Swedish or Norwegian ruler (but apparently it's not localized for Danes).

They mentioned previously making many checks no longer check for specific cultures, but features of cultures (for example cultural heritage). I'm guessing many cultural realm names will be moved to this new system. That way new cultures can inherit the cultural names for realms from their parent culture.

Exactly - but, again, the option to enter something in boxes for your culture could further complicate it.

I severely doubt newly created cultures would get their own individual text boxes, that's just way too much data to save/load especially as the game progresses.

More than likely the new cultures would just store a Reference pointer and point toward one of the parent culture to inherit from, and not allow you to mix and match.

It WOULD be nice to be able to break down the reference pointer into some broad categories, though. I wouldn't mind if land names and title names and children names are three separate groups, choosing Greek titles while keeping Norse location names but inherit French children names for example.

I'd go a bit further and let you choose the titles manually, if not to simulate converging language syntax if you so choose, but also so you can pick and choose the titles you prefer to have Kaisers and Jarls for example, or even your own unique titles.

I mean, it ultimately depends on how much it would demand on the technical side. You would basically need to create new flavorization codes (in addition, of course, to the localization string itself) the way it works now.

Using simple reference point probably only requires 12 bytes of data on average per hybridized culture (average length of a culture name + reference pointer tag). Using my suggestion of splitting into title, location, children names is probably 30-ish bytes of data on average per hybridized culture.

Doing it the way Haze suggested would have to store the entirety of each title name for EACH title for EACH hybridized culture, probably several hundred bytes per culture (assuming you still use the reference method for children names). There's like 300? 400? cultures in the game? with hybridizing it'll likely get to 600-800 at least, so close to doubling the game data, and all of these would be processed at run time, saved, or cycled through your RAM. I'm not a software engineer but even if our computers can handle it it sounds like a redux of CK2 nightmare and hardly seems resource efficient.

185 (currently, not counting the ones supposedly added in 1.5), of which 11 are only for history purposes. However, you can set titles for culture groups, and this saves a lot of resources.
Thanks. I knew Ive seen that number somewhere but couldn't find it again, so I tried taking the culture wiki page, delete all the title lines and count the number of lines. Clearly I didn't filter out enough lines.

That is all fine and well but when for the love of god is this dlc releasing already? I hear later this year constantly. I want a date so i can prepare steam etc. for the download and not start everything after work and witness the servers not being able to handle the traffic.

Thanks! I will approach it the same then and expect it next year. That would make actually alot more sense cause i can't see when they are still working on stuff a release in the next few weeks and the year is also almost over.
