Please remake The Reapers Due DLC for CK3 with some additional suggestions
  1. Add Intrigue to Infect other Counties water supply with a disease.
  2. Add Intrigue to Infect other Players with a disease.
  3. Allow sieging other holdings using catapults with diseased bodies. (This was a tactic in Medieval times)

Reactions:
Agree for the Reaper's Due, but strong disagree for the suggestions.

The suggestions regarding intentional infections are on one hand unrealistic - the medieval lack of understanding of disease vectors meant intentional infections were not reliably applied. The only cases of intentional infection reported in medieval sources are the spurious and abhorrent accusations towards Jewish communities, which it is best to not give credence to.

The use of infected bodies during sieges are based largely on the siege of Caffa at the onset of the Black Death. Bodies were supposedly lobbed over the walls, spreading disease inside the fortifications and thus inserting the Black Death into Mediterranean trade networks. This story is poorly verified, particularly by contemporaneous sources. Even if it is true, this is at best a weird event to fire while you are besieging a holding, not a tactic or a baseline mechanic.

Just out of curiosity, was Reaper's Due on of the more popular DLCs for CK2?

I really want some late game crisis to provide some challenge, but I don't think an epidemic system would make sense with the barebones economic system we have now. All I could see for an epidemic system that works now is a massive popular opinion penalty and a control cap, which would be a non-threat at that stage of the game.

it was with me. the black death was excellent in that it was scary and damaging without being game-destroying

It was an amazing dlc. They had to nerf the plagues because of how fun they were.

Idk if it was one of the most popular DLC. But it was that one and Holy Fury the ones i remember being the best even released.

It brought CK2 out of its own "dark ages". Not only was it a solid DLC, but it came with major performance improvements that were a long time coming at that point. Before that DLC release, CK2 was in the worst state it had ever been. Ironically, the Reaper DLC brought the game back from death.

part of the reasoning behind it, they explained, was to cull the number of people in the world. but it was a great mechanic regardless.

Oh, i forgot about the optimization alongside alongside the DLC. The game also became way faster in comparison to pre Reaper due. Before it there were endless threads complaining about the addition of India making the game too slow.
