if I can add my 2 cents to the Berbers focus... if you consider it necessary to give them titles and everything in their language, then search for how they are in Tamazight language. Searching for Barānīs or Butr as languages will give you no results as neither of them was a language.
They were just ancestral groups to which various medieval Berber tribes claimed their origin... and the groups represent 2 prevailing lifestyles among Berbers: nomadic and sedentary. No language is associated to neither of them.

or if you desperately need something, searching for Znaga (Sanhaja) or Aznata (Zanata) might lead you to some results.

Thanks for the pointers. I can't really comment on your suggestions, Since I don't know much about this, But I'm sure others will.

I do have a small request while you are here though, could you give some pointers for African cultures too. We could definitely use some of your expertise there (if you have the time).

P.S. Big fan of your mod, I do not play it as much (Its been a while since I played CK3 :\ ), but I do actively follow your mod threads.

Thanks, I'm glad you like my mods.

I wanted to help you with Berbers, because I know that the cultures used for Berbers have never been identified as languages. Hence I wanted to save you wasting your time in trying to find a Baranis or Butr equivalents of Emir etc. Contemporary sources were all in Arabic, so you won't find contemporary names, even if they used some, which I seriously doubt, but can't rule it out. So if you really want to replace the Arabic titles like Emir etc. (which IMHO certainly aren't wrong for medieval Berbers), you should search modern titles used in the Tamazight language.

As for "African cultures" - I don't think I can offer any help. To be honest, the request is way too broad and I can't say I could find anything beyond what already is in the game. To be honest, searching for cultural names and titles was always the most annoying and unwanted part of research for me, as it is the least interesting thing for me about those people.

OTOH, most of those cultures still exist as actual languages, many of them with millions of speakers and numerous linguistic studies. If somebody has the passion for translating everything into all languages (a passion which I don't share with you, though), I am pretty sure you can find a lot of valuable information about them.

Discussion: Discord Server

Do you guys think we should have a discord server, Someone asked in Steam, I've been thinking about it for a while. Here are some reasons for this

1) I think for me, the main concern we maybe be kind of overrunning this thread with replies (We are at 322 replies), that It might make it inaccessible to anyone new who would want to join the discussion. Slogging through those discussions is not fun.
2) Also communicating in the forums is not the best/easiest method, since it requires posting a whole new reply even for single sentence answers (adds to the replies).
3) I find it easier to search things in discord than in here (Personal opinion)

The drawbacks are that we might be pulling from a public place, to a slightly more private space (The Server will still be public). In sense, no one who doesn't particularly want to participate will be able to see our discussions, which is kind of a good thing too in a way.

Please everyone Involved let me know what you think (Even emoting to this is considered valid response)

@Urkaun, @Uebergold - I know, I know, you're tired to hear about Old Saxon vs. Saxon, but there are at least some points we should make a decision about:
  1. They currently use the same culture name - is this intended?
  2. Would Old, pre-Christ Saxons actually have Furistos and why?
  3. Can we safely put tildes for (Old and/or regular) Saxon consorts?
  4. Can we safely put tildes for Old Saxon independent counts?
  5. Do all those Germanic guys actually have no term for king's children? Not even an equivalent for modern Königssohn?

Except some Langobardic title names in the beginning I spent 99,99% of my time in the EtB sheet.

1. We could use "Ald Sahsisk" for Old Saxon culture,
2. Need to research that, can't say right now.
3. see 2
4. see 2
5. see 2. But I would not be surprised if it wasn't a thing, at least before they evolve to Middle Low German/Middle High German. Germanic people usually preferred Wahlmonarchie back in the very old times, you rarely see long standing dynasties.

Aha, I see, so we'll tentatively have this as a temporary decision. Now @Necrochar is to think how to override vanilla's Princes there... I don't think just creating the "title_prince_germanic_none" and setting it to "" would work?

I could not find anything, at least in Old Saxon/Old High German. I knew we have the Æþeling for Anglo-Saxons. And while we also have an Ethiling in Old Saxon and Ediling in Old High German, they aren't princes. And the term Prinz(e) was only used after evolving to Middle Low German/Middle High German.

As @Necrochar showed, we seem to be really close to implementing councillors. However, we've met an issue with French localization: we don't seem to have an idea how to make the code follow the "du/de la/de l'" logic properly, short of listing every councillor title beginning with a vowel in a custom localization. (In case you don't know what the logic is: if a title begins with a vowel, the definite possessive form will have de l' regardless of gender, otherwise it's du for male and de la for female.) Does anyone have an idea for that? (German suffers from a similar issue with male titles ending in a sibilant, but there the list was short enough for me to compile it.)

Well, in short, You cant.
Paradox language (if you can call it that), Jomini, does not allow string manipulation of any kind. So no one can check things like, starts with or has certain letter within it. Sometimes I wish they just did the whole thing in Python (or one of the actual languages), instead of this pseudo-language? That's a rant for another day xP.

Your "Hack" is the only way of doing it. You have to basically hard code everything (which is what you did).
Otherwise, we can use the majority of other mods' approach and just use English localization (Personally, I would not like this)

I leave that to you guys

I am reviewing the council titles for Saxons, Bavarians, Franconians and Swabians right now.

Marshal is kinda easy although for Old High German cultures it should be Marhscalc, not Marhscalch.

And I would replace the Ambahtio/Gastald with Kamarâri (Bavarians, Franconians, Swabians) / Kamerāri (Saxons). The Kämmerer (modern German) is the closest you can get if you translate it to the steward councillor in CK III. It was also one of most prestigious court offices in the early times (together with Marschall, Mundschenk, Truchseß).
