This is simply outrageous.

As others have suggested, I can see valid arguments for increasing the price of new dlc moving forward, but a retroactive price increase seems unfair and unjustified.

The only possible argument I could see for this retroactive price change is if they plan on continuing to add features to these old DLC as new features are added to the game elsewhere (such as @Asa_TJ suggestion to add a struggle mechanic for northern lords). But if this is the plan, why not announce the price increase with concrete examples of the increases value.

This seems like an unforced PR error.

Northern Lords came out in March 2021, just six months after CK3 was released. Not two years.
Yeah because a tiny flavour pack with new outfits and a few events is meaningful DLC that made fundamental additions to the game right?

People in here are reacting like they announced they were going to retroactively charge our credit cards for past purchases. I realize I'll get downvoted to oblivion and called an apologist for not jumping on the boycott bandwagon but might I suggest... I dunno, just not buying things if you think the price is too high?

The funniest part about this, is that there still isn't another dev diary; no updates on plans for the game. Why not at least wait for the announcement of the next expansion/flavor pack before you do this, soften the blow?

Meanwhile, Stellaris and HoI4 have each had multiple dev diaries since the CK3 team started their 3 month vacation. So, already disappointing content, disappointing pace of content release, AND disappointing communication. Disappointing, and objectively inferior to the other games they're actively supporting. Now, a price increase. Smh.

I think I'll be checking out of CK3 for a while and focusing on other games. Maybe when I check back, the pace and quality of content will have improved enough to justify these increases.

The thing you'll get downvoted for is being ignorant, if anything. "Don't boycott things, just don't buy them!"

The fact we've gone a full day without any further response from the team is pretty heinous in of itself.* This isn't some minor griping about a feature being altered or a bug that has yet to be fixed - it's the wider community out and out saying "no, we don't accept that" to the price on the older flavor packs being raised.

Couldn't you have simply applied this change to future releases at this level and not doubled the price of already released content that has received no update?

Can we please get a justification for this increase?
Anything, but a mere notification. I know the community ambassadors and moderators are not the ones that make decisions like this (obviously), but you're the only ones we can reach.

Seriously, bring us a statement of why this is happening from the people who did make the decision.

Tbf - the CA/CM was just following orders - them running for the hills is to be expected as anyone with half a brain could have seen the reaction PDX is getting from a mile off, they'll send mods through to start deleting comments over the next few days - their fun Code of Conduct is as close to a de facto ban on significant sustained criticism as they can get without actually making a rule that says 'you cannot criticise us here'

Not allowed to call for boycotts or post 'inflammatory messages' or 'comment or discuss moderation' or 'flame' and 'rant', not allowed to post polls without their permission beforehand all added together there are a million and a half ways to delete just about any comment PDX would rather not have here
Their Code of conduct is a net wide enough to catch almost any post if you are willing to close one eye and squint with the other

I find this a rather gross exaggeration.
There have been multiple events of severe criticism (i.e. Stellaris 3.0 update) where a lot of criticism did not get deleted. A whole lot of aggressive, offensive or insulting posts have been deleted, whether they included valid criticism or not, but there was plenty of criticism still left intact, if it was not also insulting the developers or other community members. And sometimes quite severe criticism at that.

There are still people who regularly complain about the Stellaris 3.0 update and think it has been a major misstep, but their posts don't get deleted, if they are not insulting anyone, but are merely stating an opinion on a game design decision. Whether with added reasoning or not is irrelevant.
The tone is what gets your posts deleted, not the criticism in itself.

Normally this post would actually be an infraction, but I will let it slide for one important reason that I want everyone reading this thread to think about:

Are these 10 pages devoid of criticism? No.

There's quite a lot of criticism in this thread. That is allowed. We just don't allow unnecessary toxicity, or attacks on devs. If you don't know the difference, then that's on you. This thread is not about how we moderate the forum, and if anyone comments on it anymore, that will be a major infraction. This thread is not about that. If you have feedback or feel the need to talk about that, my inbox is open. Now please, get back on topic, but stay kind.
