I just dont understand how a count in Ireland, can hold a county smack in the middle of the Holy Roman Empire. How was that correspondence? I assume medieval lords were very very respectful and polite at the time since the Holy Roman Empire let's you have that county, visit it etc and no questions asked.

If I were the Holy Roman Emperor I would have a good laugh, then politely tell that Irish count to **** ***, you ***** ****** ****!
(Taking the province myself and give it to a deserving noble)
Unless that deserving noble is said irish count. If he is weak, competent, loyal or whatever virtue one can find good for a vassal, why not ;)

I think it wouldn't be too preposterous historically, i mean imagine an irish noble who made their way into the hre, assumed control of some land because why not and remained loyal to the irish man in charge. Supposedly they'd technically be under HRE, but realistically serving the irish head of state. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Because there is no travel time and the people administrating the holdings are 100% trustworthy.

I would be more in favor of border gore if the system allowed for several liege-relations. It should be tied to the title and not the holder of the title. An Irish duke controlling an independent duchy in Ireland, as well as a small county in Brittany, should be both independent and a vassal at the same time. When William became the king of England, he was still considered both the duke of Normandy (a vassal of the king of France) as well as the king of England, and this started a conflict between the two (a type of conflict that the game illustrates poorly).
