From what I'm reading, Paradox are still working on balancing the system, so I might wait until that has been completed before dipping my toes back in.
Saves the me "save game incompatible" heartache as well!
They released the 2.5.2 patch which was their balancing patch for defensive pacts. They usually don't go back and touch things once they've done such a major rebalance on it already. Honestly, they probably won't change threat/defensive pacts again until after they release another DLC and get into doing another balance patch.

The game plays really well and is super fun right now with ck2+. I have no clue when the next update is going to be but I'm waiting on that for a couple of fixes I've been anticipating and it sounds like it might be a big one due to them announcing they're going to be taking it off steam due to file size restrictions. It's definitely a good time to play the game since new DLC won't be coming out for a long while. I'm just waiting for the official matrilineal marriage that's part of the next mod update before I go in and start a brand new game myself.
Manual download available: Dropbox SAVE COMPATIBLE *see notes below
Added Imperial Government type, automatically applied to feudal rulers who pass the Imperial Administration law (and all their feudal vassals). They must maintain the Religious Control Mandate and Regulated Inheritance laws or be reverted to Feudal Government. This is (currently) the same as Feudal Government, but with the added benefit of free revocation on all duchy and kingdom titles.
Added a 'Women on the Council' law group under the Realm laws tab. This determines whether the roles of women on the ruler's council can be expanded from the default, and at its highest level provides the prerequisite for Absolute Cognatic succession. The maximum level also establishes a realm's status as 'feminist' if passed, meaning that the normal opinion malus for a female ruler or female heir will be removed.
The 'Expanded Women on the Council' law adds matrilineal marriage for republics and theocracies, which normally cannot have anything other than Agnatic succession.
Forts now require 30 days to build and have no bonuses as a base (they're only useful at that level for holding empty provinces). In order to receive fortification or garrison bonuses, they must be upgraded.
Fixed matrilineal marriages from becoming disallowed when a new primary title is created.
Female nomads created by the Ruler Designer now also get their primary title changed to Agnatic-Cognatic succession (after one day).
Rulers without a crown law title (such as independent dukes) may now pass the Revoke Title laws without worrying about Crown Authority.
Fabricated claims which were accidentally made super-cheap as of two versions ago have now been restored to their pricier, minimum costs.
Fixed missing descriptions for some of the new trade post buildings.
Negative events that occur during the Bogomilist formalization process now actually hinder the process rather than help it.
Formalizing the Bogomilist faith now removes the 'Formalizing Bogomilism' character modifier from the ruler.
Moved one of the Norse holy sites from Iceland to the western Isles since Iceland not populated in early bookmarks.
Fixed erroneous changing of province culture to liege culture via inappropriate assignation of 'Settle Tribe' steward job.
Reduced frequency of provinces converting to owner's culture.
Improved south slavic titles.
Fixed c_lorraine, c_messina, and c_reggio in the 1066 bookmark.
Fixed c_leinster and c_kilkenny in the 1000 bookmark.
Added upgradeable garrisons for all tradepost buildings, whether the holder is patrician or not.
This is technically save compatible, as it won't break anything, but the presence of the new Women on the Council law means there might be some oddness when loading saves that don't have that present. Either way, we wanted to throw this version up sooner rather than later to fix the remaining matrilineal marriage bugs.
Note as well that, if you have Imperial Administration, you'll now have to maintain the realm inheritance and revoke titles laws to maintain it...so if you're loading a save with Byzantium where those laws aren't possessed, you'll lose it.
That would be correct. I guess Paradox changed it in the new patch. It's just that he's listed as a vassal in the start menu, and is independent ingame. Makes starting as Apulia really annoying. Oh, and Lorraine isn't listed as belonging to anyone in the start menu post-1000.
Is there a requirement for baltic pagans' seers? Because I can't appoint one and I have several courtiers not assigned positions.
Also, I noticed that in your new update there is the option of scrolling forward in time from the 1000 AD bookmark. I did notice that if you do scroll forward, some minor counts are independent at certain times-notably several in the Duchy of Burgundy after Henri the Great dies. I didn't know if you are aware of this.
They need to either be a theocracy or have a ecclesiastical education trait.

I would have thought you could only scroll forward from 1066. I'll look for a way to restrict the time that's available, as I'm not about to go through all the titles and fix the period between 1000 and 1066 (as I'm sure there are way more problems than in Burgundy). For now my only advice is "don't do that".

The problem is that defines.txt in common lists "1000.12.25" as the earliest start date. Changing it to 1066 should prevent scrolling forward from 1000.
EDIT: Also it lists the end date as "9999.1.1" which sure is... something...

The most interesting part is the 2 "straits" top middle and Tadmekka. Expecting a more fleshed out Africa, kind-of like SWMH. I wouldn't say no for some African nomads too but this picture doesn't show government.
It seems Sicily was mostly ruled by foreigners the Normans, Germans and then French.
Some minor rulers were native italian or in this case Sicilian. Do you need their IDs for an easier change?
Only natives I found:
The Prince-Bishopbric of Benevento around 1176
and the Ruffo family around 1198 ruling Amalfi.
di Celano ruling Foggia in 1220
Chinard ruling Dyrachion in 1273
Edit: while browsing randomly around, I saw that ruler of Halaban in 1000 A.d is yezidi instead of sunni
