So I had started a thread (Link) talking about having more control over your character and I was told to start writing stuff up and posting in this thread for review. I decided to focus on the events causing you to arbitrarily lose traits since that irked me the most, and made some decision event dialogues and choices that I think would be balanced to replace whatever event fires when you simply lose a trait. Let me know what you think about the following:

Challenge to Just Trait:
-Scenario (gold is <100):
“A group of peasants have brought a wealthy and influential merchant to your court, seeking justice against him for ‘deflowering’ their daughters. They claim he was caught red-handed on multiple occasions but has avoided justice through bribery, and they beseech you as their just ruler to punish him accordingly. The merchant asks you for a private audience and says, ‘My lord, many merchants in your lands depend on my business contracts and I would be more than willing to make a hefty donation to your treasury if you were to see your way to ruling in my favor.’”
- Option #1: “I suppose if you swear not to do it again…”
- Results: Lose Just trait, get ‘peasants are angered’ (+1%global revolt risk) for 2 years, gain 250 gold (can be scaled up based on income)
- Option #2: “You think I will betray my principles for money?!”
- Results: Slightly reduce prosperity of capital county, -10% taxes in demesne provinces for 2 years

Challenge to Brave Trait:
-Scenario (has not led armies in battle for >3 years, not at war):
“Your marshal indicates that a number of men in your garrisons are beginning to doubt your bravery because they have not seen you in the field for some time. He suggests that you lead a raid of some local brigands to show your mettle to your men.”
- Option #1: “I’m am busy ruling. I have nothing to prove to them!”
- Results: Lose Brave trait, +1 Stewardship
- Option #2: “Ready my horse!”
- Results: Gain 25 Prestige, 20% chance gain wounded trait, 5% chance gain maimed trait, 1% chance you die.

Challenge to Diligent Trait:
-Scenario (Any):
“Overseeing the affairs of the realm can take a toll on even the most stalwart ruler. Lately it feels as if the pressure is building to unmanageable levels. Perhaps I should focus on only one area of management and delegate my other responsibilities.”
- Option #1: “No, I can handle it all. I MUST handle it all…”
- Results: Gain Stressed trait, 10% chance each of gaining (Headache, Fatigue, Chest Pain, Rash, Malaise)
- Option #2: “I will focus my time on managing my lands and my ledgers.”
- Results: Lose Diligent trait, +1 Stewardship, +1 Learning
- Option #3: “I will focus my time on affairs of court”
- Results: Lose Diligent trait, +1 Diplomacy, +1 Intrigue
- Option #4: “I will focus my time on managing my garrisons and my health”
- Results: Lose Diligent trait, +1 Martial, +0.5 Health

bookmarked the post, thanks.

Suggestion: maybe set the Jihad weight for Greece and Georgia after 1300 to be 0? Any bookmark after 1300 the Muslims always Jihad away either Byzantium or Georgia within 10 years of the start date. Makes playing either basically impossible once chosen (and unrealistic since both survived well into the 15th century)

I'm not sure exactly how it would work, but an inquisition feature would make the Dominicans a much more interesting Holy Order to play. Right now all the religious societies feel pretty bland.

Could the exalted trait be gained depending on your prestige rather than by taking an ambition? it is rather easy to get once you are an emperor, and it is really good, making the ambition almost mandatory if you want to min-max. making it scale by prestige would make it more progressive giving your character a sense of progression, while also making it harder to get, and without it being dependant on your rank. I would suggest that it would scale like this: 2000-6000-10000-20000, with each level raising it

Also could we get a game option for rebellious vassals, making then more likely that they rebel against their liege? I always found it rather easy to manage realms in ck2 plus, and i would prefer more challenge. Even better would be so that they become more likely to plot and activaly work against their liege. More options for having more challenging games would be welcome to increase replayabity

With the Vanilla DD announcement of border gore exclaves, it made me think of a suggestion. A lower threshold CB for exclaves, example, if Denmark has one county in Ireland, and I border that county, I should just be able to siege it down and hold it for a period of time to gain it, instead of travelling all the way to Denmark to get more warscore. It should be Denmarks job to defend it, if they can't, they lose it, they in theory can still protect it but it will be costly to send an army across the sea. So this would get rid of exclaves in a characters lifetime not just upon inheritance, also to me it seems more realistic and fair. This would apply both to AI and Humans.

in Ruler Designer, 'Ambidextrous' trait is free 2 personal combat points. For free. No cost at all. Erm.... yeah. 2 free combat points for every ruler designer guy doesn't seem right... just saying

EDIT: since this is suggestions thread, I suggest +2 personal combat and +1 diplomacy for the cost of 1 year. To bring this in line with the power/cost of "Trained Fighter" which is +2 combat & +1 martial for cost of 1 year.

Added exclave conquest cb. It works on single-county exclaves which are not de jure to either party.
The ticking warcscore thing doesn't exist as you described it. It'll just count more quickly.

Did I mention succession? No, I don't think I did.

It' not AI only, and it will trigger after certain wars (excommunicated_ruler, bid_for_independence for someone else, cb_faction_independence for non-faction members, claim_on_liege_plot for non-claimants, other_claim_on_liege_plot for anyone, religious_overthrow_ruler for non-rebels etc).
It will also trigger if ERE/HRE ruler changes religion.
E.g. a ruler who has demesne not connected to the main teritory will be more likely to start a separatist faction and rebel.

So it's not an artificial system forced on characters, but rather something triggered by in-game events.

but the AI will still pour men and resources into defending it, wouldn't it?

Idk man, Paradox's solution still sounds more... effective. Just personal preference though, an option to turn on/off Paradox's solution would be nice.

They will, but they'll accept defeat fairly soon, and won't waste much effort defending something that's far away.

PDS solutions are never effective.

It's only 1 cost by coincidence. It seems there is no hard backed cost in the RD for PC. It's something I noticed. In that one it's actually the martial that costs 1, and the PC is still free. Likely I'll just go through those and manually add a cost to them.

Hopefully low cost too though. 1 year for ambidextrous would be great. PC is actually a really hard stat to come by, martial education notwithstanding. And you need like 5 PC to be anywhere decent in a duel
