Do you mind me asking what vanilla bug is causing it?

I hope you find some sort of work around, as the destruction of the title causes no small amount of weirdness. (Western European kings each have their own religious head, Charlemagne can't form his empire, ext.)

Titular duchies get destroyed by title holder if they have a higher tier. Except if they're pentarchy.
Titular duchies get handed out to vassals, if primary title is kingdom or an empire. Even if they're pentarchy. This last bit is the issue. Title gets handed to someone and then immediately destroyed.

I may have fixed it but, the consequences of it may not be pretty. All pentarchies are now kingdom-tier titles.

Thanks for your hard work dev(s).

Just to keep you up to date, the new beta can work on macOS now. It just has a weird bug where it wont launch if there's already a saved game. My work around is to move the saved games to a desktop folder, launch ck2, then move the saves back to the save folder and continue the game.

Hopefully this helps you track down what is causing this weird macOS compatibility issue.

I'm still playing on the version 2.7.2 and the latest corresponding CK2+, as the Archon of a merchant republic, and I have reached a point where I am consistently getting crashes on a very specific date 2 days after the autosave. (The last things I remember doing were going out to gather ingredients, specifically herbs, as a Hermetic initiate, and starting to write a paper, plus I also got the event where I was in seclusion and my daughter begged to go out for the night, only to bring back a peasant boy she wanted to marry.) I checked all four beta changelogs and no found "crash fixes" that I might recognize as responsible for the issue. Would it be worthwhile to upload the save so you can take a look at it, or is there just no chance you'll be able to do something with the save?

On a related note, patrician gameplay has a couple other issues. I got several random crashes during the game (while having, as far as I can remember, zero crashes in my Yngling game, the other game I played to any great length on this version), so I suspect that there may be a merchant republic event that's doing something wrong and crashing the game. (The previous crashes were not reproducible on a specific date though, so maybe not? I dunno.)

Also - I do not seem to be able to call my Court Physician to sick relatives while being a patrician (but not the head of the republic), despite having a physician (I checked).

Finally, I'm not sure if this is WAD or not, but when taking a loan as a patrician (again, while not heading the republic), repaying the loan has no negative financial consequences (unlike normal, when you'd get a tax malus to your counties). You merely have to pay 400 prestige (possibly scaling up with realm size?), compared to 100 prestige for promising to repay later. Just thought I'd mention this in case it wasn't the intended mechanic.

Well, I wasn't really hoping my issue would get fixed since there wasn't much to go on and it's an old version anyways, but I was still hoping I'd get more than just absolute silence. I guess I should just accept that there isn't any hope of this crash being investigated? (I did what I could - it seems the crash doesn't have anything to do with the events I mentioned, and loading an older autosave let me carry on without a crash occurring on the same date, and I also learned that killing my character didn't avoid the crash, but I've no idea what could cause it, otherwise.)

---

In the hopes that this post will be noticed, I've also found another issue in the same game: Rome, at some point, converted to Occitan (before the schism, in case that matters). I remember that CK2+ made it so that the Pope couldn't culture-convert its counties, which I found to be a pretty sensible measure, and looking at the event files, this still seems to work correctly. My guess is that the Pope might have gotten a peasant revolt, crushed it, and then used the "deal with rebels" event to forcibly convert the local culture to Occitan. Perhaps the same title holders (k_papal, k_papal_chalcedon, etc.) that are excluded from natural culture conversion of provinces should also be forbidden from choosing the "try and forcibly assimilate the peasants" events?

The "consistent crash" is 2.7.2 vanilla thing.
I'll check about the doctor.
No county penalty for patricians is probably OK.

I'll also check the converting rome.

Please, in the future post several shorter posts with one issue per post. This is so I can mark them separately.

Whenever I start a new game, regardless of my game rule setting, marriages will be unrestricted.

Since the NPCs will use this as well, I can't even just roleplay and not have interfaith marriages myself.

Here's a savegame (Edit: now without the Rex Teutonicorum Submod).

It's also happening to me but only with pagans, as a Christian ruler Pagans have no problems with me asking for a marriage, yet if I try with muslims I get blocked due to "x must not marry an infidel".

After looking at the code I see that pagans have intermarry set to christians so I guess it's working as designed.

That's French for you. It has a special custom localisations file. And it's not really maintained.
Also, "officialy" only english is supported. Occasional translation is made here and there, but no other language is fully supported.

Yup, WAD.

Using: v4.07 BETA4 - Wolfpack

Using: 2.8.1

The Varangian Guard captains are Catholic instead of Orthodox, and this seems to be passed on from captain to captain.

WAD, if they converted to catholic, they're catholic. It's always far more likely that vassals will convert to their lieges religion during the schism, but sometimes they just don't.

I mean they are Catholic on start-up, despite being vassals to an Orthodox liege. This is all after the Schism has happened.

bad luck, it's fairly difficult to capture everyone.
