Please, do not add third russian kingdom. Ask Wiz, there was such set up in some early versions, and it was horrible. On 1066 start date it was really simple to form it, even ai did it in every game, and after this it was a matter of time for this king to unify all russian lands, making the situation there too improbable.

There is no lack of communication or even privacy from Wiz. It is known to us what he did and why. He is part of us, albeit not coding daily anymore he does even contribute there from time to time.

We might even end up utilizing k_ruthenia somehow too. I don't think you need to fear us adding Kingdoms into the area. Balance will be achieved through various means including but not limited to titular ownership and de jure map manipulation as well as religious or cultural differences. The current goal is to break up the lands as historically as possible and update Eastern Europe for the 867 start as accurately as possible in a way that will still maintain game balance.

Sorry if my post sounded a little bit too emotional. I really think that you should not bother with any form of historical set up for 867 in Rus', due to the fact that are next to zero contemporary written sources about this region. There are some Arab and byzantine materials, but they don't tell much. The first available local sources have been written two hundreds years later, and we can't fully trust it. So any set up will be quiet far from reality. Culture can be a better source for inspiration, but I'm not sure whether you willing to break russian culture into dozen of smaller ones, with every tribe alliance representing different culture.

Even more trouble gives the absence of local succession system. I think that you aware that succession in early feudal Rus' was managed through system that, in a sense, is a blend of seniority and gavelkind. Without it there are no way to represent local dynamics, and any realistic outcomes are impossible to achieve without some additional system.

So I suggest to focus on balance, and don't worry about historical accuracy, really any solution that will prevent formation of strong centralized state by AI will work.

And about Ruthenia, it just a latinized version of Rus', and this way it could be only a catholic version of a kingdom name or a catholic titular kingdom.

I'm playing with the kingdom of lombardy from 867 AD start, and i noticed something wierd... one of my dukes got a casus belli over rome, and i declared war on the pope to gain it. i was expecting something huge, like the entire catholic world taking side with the pope against me, but nothing happened... i won against the few vatican troops and gained rome from the pope... without receiving neither a single excomunication... is that supposed to be normal? now the pope is in rome with no land at all... maybe the correct thing to do was just insert the vatican state inside rome and make it untochable like a republic, because to me i find this situation a bit weird... what are your thoughts about that?

strange...I cant reproduce it. Which modules are you using and what checksum do you get?

Hey all. I recently edited the defines to make all traits in character created give negative age, yet for some reason its not working with ck2+ (With the VIET mod as well) and I can find no reason why. Can someone be of any assistance?

Just my few cents in the discussion about Russia:

- do not make the third kingdom Muscovy, it is not really fitting most of the time period (though the title could be included as some sort of a titular one)
- I like the idea of having Ruthenia something like a Catholic kingdom in the Rus' lands (similarly to the Latin Empire)
- last but not least, the creation of the third kingdom could be somehow limited (from what I have found out, it seems that even the creation of de jure titles can be prevented through flags though I do not know if through anything else)

P.S. The modification of Khazaria in the 1000 AD bookmark is still open for discussion.

Thanks a lot for update and all the work you have put into it!

About third kingdom in Russia area in 867 AD. Splitting eastern slavs lands into 3 kigndoms is a nice idea, but to be honest I dont think its a right solution here. Now those kingdoms look like some small kingdoms from Caucasus or Western Europe, and I think Russian lands should be splitted into some bigger realms, it would make more sense historically and logically, for me at least.

So maybe the solution would be, instead of splitting those realms into artificial, non historic (Kingdom of Muscovy in IX century is little awkward ihmo) 3 De Jure areas, making the possibility of creation of titular title? I mean, the problem is about Kievian Rus not forming after 867 start by AI or human player right? Its hard to describe De Jure lands of kingdom, which is yet to be created. Maybe instead make the possibility to create Titular Kingdom of Rus (or something with similar name), that would require Kiev Duchy / Principality, 2 (or 1) more Duchies of any kind and maybe also some minimal number of holdings to be created? And maybe also make that decision available only to Norse / Slavs. After 50 years of De jure drift, it would make a specific De jure area itself, if it still would exist. All De jure changes and its balance / historicall accuracy problems would be avoided and 867 setup would be solved. What do you think about it?

Many of the Coat of Arms (towards the end of the numerical selection sequence) are distorted. The images look like two different images that are sretched onto the shield.... also their are at least 2 aztec ones mixed in with the christian shields.

Also is there anyway to fix the horrible combinations that occur in many muslim shields? It seems like most dynasties end up with day-glo geometric patterns or a circle of lime-green rabbits on electric purple background. I know these are probably issues from the ARKO pack, which has some great images but there are some really odd mistakes and combos that are popping up.
