Come on Guys please dont make the comments sound so negative and ungrateful. Its what makes modders burn out in the first place. Modding takes a lot of work and time.

We should be happy someone is willing to make the effort to keep up Wizs good Work.

Is there a reason hiring the Jomsvikings costs twice the piety compared to Muslim or Christian holy orders? It's 1049 and there are exactly 2000 of them compared with the about 3000 the Christian ones have at the First Crusade bookmark.

I think use what you want give credit practically still applies. They just want to sign off quickly first. The main thing I think they don't want is a different CK2+ continuation either competing or impacting the reputation of their project. They just want the name. Which seems fair enough since they asked Wiz to take over.
That occurred to me as well, except it doesn't do that - schwarherz specifically said that Wiz's last version is still open slather, so anyone can fork off from that point, call it "CK2&" and go on their merry way.

Come on Guys please dont make the comments sound so negative and ungrateful. Its what makes modders burn out in the first place. Modding takes a lot of work and time.

If you're referring to the posts of myself, Battle Bunny, riknap and thekonkoe, there's nothing negative or ungrateful there, just requests for clarification about a shift in policy. If anyone's going to burn out over that, then I'd hate to see what they'd do when they first hit a particularly persistent and hard-to-diagnose bug. I reckon it'd end with something on fire :p.

I love how that post effectively says we can't use any updates of the ck2plus sequal/continuation without reapplying for permission, yet you can use other previously integrated mods without needing to ask for it :p
Wiz is still part of the project. If permission was given to the mod under him and he hasn't left, then of course we do not need to ask for more permissions unless the mod owners decided they wanted people to ask for permission again. See Patrum Scuta for an example of a mod who actually did change their mind about permissions after version 0.3.

If I may ask... why the change at all? ....... what was it about "use what you want, give credit" that the new team found so objectionable?
We don't find that objectionable when it comes to the work before us or the work of other people. If we have a mod incorporated into our code that does not want to get shared and you just take it, then that puts us in a wrong position for letting you take what you want with credit. Additionally there is content beyond what Wiz originally created that is part of the mod from this point on out. Wiz did not give blanket permission until retiring to his advisory management role and certainly should not be expected to be giving it in place of other people now. If anything now that his project was picked up I would advise that the old code be returned to a state of requiring permission, and just have it go through us instead in the future. It isn't that we are being stingy, but we want to make sure the proper permissions are given from everyone all around as well as that we know what is going on with our code. What you are seeing here isn't unprecedented or offensive. It it mostly organizational and courtesy.

Just out of curiosity, is there any reason you would forbid someone to use CK2+ code, and if so, what reasons are there? If not, why the change in policy in the first place?

I'd also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the new CK2+ staff on a job well done so far. I'm glad to see that I'll be able to play on with this mod. That being said, is there any news on the integration of Better Armies as a CK2+ module? I think there was talk of that earlier in this thread.
Yes, certainly, someone that was rude enough to steal our work without asking for permission would be met with full force of whatever moderation Paradox would offer to bring forth. They also would not be acquiring permission from us in the future. Regardless of standing threats to our coding existence (none, of course), unforeseen issues can pop up. Not just that but we are not the owners of all of the code that we use. We cannot always speak for the feelings of everyone else associated with us directly or indirectly. It is well within our rights, logical reason, and community expectations based upon precedent set elsewhere. It was even done formally in the appropriate fashion. It is to protect us and others which should be easy enough to accept. The policy was changed in the first place because Wiz was retiring and he wanted people to be able to use his work to build upon. The permissions changed back again because we don't want that to lead to trouble with our work.

Thank you for the clarification, and for not taking these queries as attacks or criticisms. I've not seen anything from the new team that would make me wary, other than the concern that might naturally come from any change to anything one has some investment in.

EDIT: I've removed the bulk of this post. Upon re-reading with less tired eyes, it came across as much more whiny, nitpicky and (dare I use the word-that-must-not-be-used?) entitled than it was intended. The above section is, I think, the core of what I was trying to say, my train of thought just got derailed. A lot. I apologise if any offense was caused - it genuinely was not intended. I look forward to the next release, and beyond.

Really enjoying CK2+ 2.03b on its own, thank you. Since this is my first experience of CK2+ factions, I think that system works superbly. I am at 1337 on a shattered world scenario with the Aztecs having just arrived. Neither horde lasted more than 10 years so I hope the westerners have a bit more bite :)

A minor quibble - the "embrace heresy" event shows the wrong religions in the decision and text, though the correct heresy takes root ingame.

Looking forward to seeing this continue to innovate and evolve over the course of the next few releases.

Is there any chance new CK2+ update will come along with a VIET compatch?
You are asking the wrong people. Cybrxkhan is the developer of VIET. We are doing what we can to ensure greater ease of compatibility with other mods in the future. As far as compatibility goes with VIET for now Cybrxkhan releases his own CK2Plus versions. I'm pretty sure it will stay that way. Once we figure out what parts we will integrate and work with him further who knows.

Indeed, for now the (unofficial de facto unspoken awesome) arrangement is as it has been - I will continue providing CKII+ compatible versions of the Events and Traits modules (as long as CKII+ continues updating to the vanilla patches) since it's just easier that way rather than having the CKII+ folks do it themselves (and it takes me literally a minute to merge the new changes into the CKII+ versions, anyhow, whereas I suppose if the CKII+ team were doing it it might be a bit of a hassle).

Here's the relevant Q&A from the VIET FAQ:

Will you ever make a fully-compatible version with CKII+ or The Prince and the Thane?
Short answer: no. For an explanation as to why not, see this post here. I will however continue to make CKII+ compatible versions of the Events and Traits modules so long as CKII+ stays updated to the vanilla patches. Nevertheless, the current team of modders taking care of CKII+ have told me their interest in integrating parts of VIET into CKII+. I have given them my approval and blessing, and while I will not take an active part in the integration of any part of VIET into CKII+, I look forward to helping and communicating with them as necessary. If you're a VIET/PB+VIET and a CKII+ fan and know both mods really well, it'd be great if you can give the CKII+ guys suggestions and ideas on what may or may not work.

Is there any way the vanilla colors for the Scandinavian Nations can be put back?

The vanilla colors were shades of blue and purple, and it gave an icy, snowy, northern feel.

The current colors are slightly ugly

I wasn't aware of a color change. What are they now?

P.s. I apologize for the release not being today. I just moved to the opposite end of the state and my internet hasn't caught up with me yet. Luckily i use a smartphone so i can still chat with the rest of the team and give you guys updates, but modding or even so much as editing a post is out of the question.

CK2+ changed many colors because for some reason, Paradox decided to color all realms in the same region very similar. This is a cardinal sin of cartography, which dictates that the neighbors should be colored differently so that we can actually tell them apart, but Paradox seemed to think it is a good idea for us to see literally 50 shades of grey whenever onee of those massive HRE revolts occurs. Similarly, everything in the Middle East was colored light greyish, making it a nightmare to try and tell the numerous Sultanates and Emirates apart after the first independence revolt collapsed the Seljuk Sultanate. Much better as it is now.

I agree with this, hated all the similar colours, so confusing to tell realms apart.
