Did royals make any fuzz about their birthdays? Could be quite nice decisions, to have Birthday feasts at your 30th, 40th, 50th, etc birthday?

Yeah, nobles celebrated birthdays (common people generally celebrated namedays instead). It's not a bad idea, I'll jot it down.

I am nearly through with my first full campaign in CK2+ and I must admitt that it's amazing.

However, there is one thing that doesn't seem right and I am unsure if it's just bad luck or mod error. Namely - in my (almost) whole game there was a single crusade, around like 1200 - which at this point is doomed to fail, especially with current decadence, and one jihad (50y earlier). So - is this just bad luck or did you intend that?

Sounds like a fluke. I usually see quite a few Crusades and Jihads, but the piety requirement does mean that if you get a long string of awful Popes crusades can not happen. It's unlikely though.

Has anyone ever seen the crusade against Constantinople happen? I haven't, and was wondering just how unlikely it is in real terms. It would be a shame to have it only happen under such specific circumstances that it's practically impossible.

It's broken in 1.29.2 because apparently the AI has to be forced to call Crusades against same religion group. I've fixed it for 1.30.

Something weird happened to me. It's my first game with CK2+ and I was playing as the Duke of Flanders. The king of France decided to imprison me and I rebelled, taking half of the kingdom with me. I was the leader of the rebels.

After winning the war though, I became King of France and basically almost all my old vassals (except those imprisoned) and also the old allied rebel dukes declared "independence" - I got dozens of pop up messages saying they used the instability of civil war to declare independence. Now everyone and their dog are independent, including bishops, mayors and barons in my demesne. What gives? Do I have to declare war on each one individually to get them back or is it a bug?

EDIT: by the way, how does cultural conversion work in CK2+? Is it harder, easier? Do we have to have an adjacent province or a capital of the same culture, etc.?

It's because you're dutch and the AI tends to want independence from a different culture group.

What has changed with technology Wiz? I notice Europe starts at 0 everywhere.

Also, what does the Learning stat do? It's says in to OP it helps with culture conversion? Is there anything one can do to affect culture conversion process?

Read the FAQ.

Learning helps with culture conversion, religious conversion, tech speed and province prosperity.

Great Job on the mod, there is tiny thing i would wish for in future versions:

I am currently the King of Ireland, England, Wales and Portugal and the Emperor of the Irish Empire, however the Duke of the Isle of man (independent) who kinda likes me will not become my vassal because of the "distant realm" modifier.. That really doesn't make any sense since he is very close to my empire on three sides. I think a little bit of sea shouldn't give the "Distant Realm" modifier.

Just my opinion.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Hardcoded, take it up with Paradox.

Mhm.

Is there a way to have back the old cultural specific names for muslim buildings from Sword of Islam?

Qasbah instead of Castle, Mosque instead of Church, and so on?

You'd have to merge the building files. They're not just names, they're entirely different buildings which results in the entire infrastructure of a province exploding if a different religion rules it. That's why I got rid of them, the flavor isn't worth the balance issue.

Is there any way I could quickly fix it in the current version? I like this particular game and the future will most probably be dominated by wars on whoever holds Kent now.

Replace the dejure_duchy_claim CB in cb_types with this:

Hi, me here.

Is there any chance you'd consider buffing the Court Chaplain County-Conversion ability slightly? My entire game is ruined by heresies, and whenever I try converting a province, my level 22 Court Chaplain just sat there for 30 years doing nothing.

I don't think it should be any faster, you were probably just having bad luck. If you're having a hard time with heresies, try granting the provinces to high learning counts so they can make their own conversion efforts.

I tried out this mod the other day. Honestly i didn't notice that many different events than vanilla, and the one thing that really bothered me castles can be taken almost instantly. Shouldn't it be a little harder to capture a castle? It kind of takes away from the whole medieval warfare aspect of long sieges and impregnable fortresses.

It's to make the AI better at winning wars since they concentrate all their forces into one stack instead of spreading out. Long sieges may be appropriate to the era but doesn't really work with the mechanics as they are now.

I guess i can see your reasoning there, although i think it has the opposite effect of making conquest easier. I know in other mods where the opposite is true (that sieges are much tougher) it seems that it is much more difficult to balloon, or even to win civil wars.

But of course that is just a preference. Thanks

With longer siege times, I've seen 40-50 year stalled wars (especially civil wars) simply because the AI can't work up the warscore to win. I'm not sure that's a good thing, so I prefer to make things more challenging by making the AI better at fighting the wars instead of just making it take longer.

How do I accuse someone of Heresy and how do I incite a revolt? I go in the character panel and I only see kidnap and kill :(

There are some conditions attached. To accuse of heresy, they can't be too liked by their religious head, and to accuse of treason they can't be too liked by their liege.

Hi wiz,

I wish to question the severity of the ugly trait for women. I had a female ugly ruler yesterday and found that it was extremely difficult to hold my duchy with her. I did some investigating and found that just being ugly was singly the largest malus in the game. (on par with excommunication) If you rack up the maluses ugly for women is -1 diplo, -10% fertility, -30 relations with 99.5% of all characters in game, even churchmen. I mean, one trait shouldn't, in and of itself make an otherwise excellent ruler (grey eminence, just, temperate, diligent, tall, 15 diplo score,) almost completely untenable. I agree that the penalty for excommunication is about right, but ugly? Perhaps the malus could apply to single males and not churchmen or married men? or perhaps ugly could be a -20% to fertility and a lesser relations hit. Feel free to do as you wish of course.

I agree but the way the trait works is hardcoded, so you'll have to take it up with Paradox. Only thing I could do would be to lower the actual opinion hit.

Is it intentional that Cognatic succession does not enable female Chancellors?

Yeah. It allows female Stewards, but the idea is that non-Cognatic courts wouldn't take a female Chancellor seriously when conducting diplomacy.

Here's 1.30, it's mainly a bunch of fixes to 1.29 but also introduces the revised levy system. I've played a few games with it so far and it seems decently balanced, but I'd appreciate feedback on how you feel it works out.

I'll now be taking a break from any major CK2+ development for a couple weeks at least, but I'll still release fixes for any urgent bugs.

1.30:
- Fixed a bug where a revolt that did not trigger a civil war could cause weird out-of-realm usurpations if successful.
- Fixed a bug where titular Elective titles would be unable to change succession laws properly.
- Vassals who are married to their liege's sibling, child or parent will now get an opinion bonus towards their liege, so that you can use marriage alliances to make your vassals more loyal.
- Creating the Israel title will now activate and vassalize a Jewish holy order.
- Increased the tax bonus for very small (1 or 2 county) demesnes.
- You can now declare war to force-vassalize an indepedent ruler whose titles are all de jure vassals of yourself or one of your vassals. Medium or higher CA is required to subjugate de jure vassals of a King or Empire title.
- Reworked the levy system. The amount of levies you can raise from your vassals is now based on three factors: Realm size (total number of holdings in your realm), crown authority and whether or not you are fighting a defensive/civil war. The smaller your realm, the more base troops you will be able to call on, and the less important crown authority becomes, while a very large realm with autonomous vassals (for example the HRE) will be very weak on the offensive. Together with the small demesne tax bonus, this is meant to make having a small demesne / lots of counts as a vassal or a small realm a viable strategy.
- Added the province of Sinkat in Abyssinia.
- Totally reworked duchy/county colors to give them their own distinct coloration instead of 'regional' colors, to make independent states and politically divided areas stand out more and make the direct vassal / duchy de jure mapmodes easier to interpret.
- Turned off the my documents user directory once again as it was causing loadup crashes for some users.
- Holy Wars and Duchy Conquests will now once again usurp the Duchy title, if it is held by either the target or one of their vassals.

The colors takes a little bit of getting used to, but I find it really helps you tell apart independent titles.

Looks kind of hilarious if you make all counts independent though.

Just did a hands off with 1.30.1 and by 1150 there was not a single civil war. Not one.

The new hotfix might have fixed this, but I still figure I should make note of this.

CBs were completely broken in 1.30.1.

Hi Wiz. Is mod or basic game having this annoying setup. As an Emperor you want to transfer vassal you have this limitation: transfer vassal allows only transfering Counts (from anywhere to Dukes) but when it comes to Dukes you can only transfer de jure Dukes to King. Like you can transfer to King of Lombardia Duke of Genoa but not Duke of Genoa and Provence. I find this extreamly annoying and game destroying because it makes absolutely no sense.

Hardcoded, vanilla. Bug Paradox about it.
