For some reason I can't load my save game anymore... I'm at 1118 and I've made my own family with ruler designer... I don't mind doing a new save (was doing bad anyway lol and was gonna do a new anyway), but still :S

Thanks for the advice, my CBs worked after 10 years.

Maybe it's hard to code a truce in this situation, but somehow (icon, tooltip, something) it would be helpful to know what was going on. :)

The character has a modifier. That's really the extent of what I can do from the mod side.

Is it possible to start as an African Pagan, and change religion to become Catholic?

My goal was to get a Christian court chaplain which would trigger the event to convert me however it appears I can't invite any Christians to my land as they consider me of 'false religion'.
Furthermore, children (heirs) don't get converted in CKplus either.

Any assistance on how to do this without a cheat will be much appreciated!

Rather not, people are already confused enough about forming empires.

While it might be even more confusing, it could be an idea to tie in prestige. It kinda makes sense for a very famous/successful ruler to be able to form a kingdom/empire with relatively limited holdings, while an unknown one would need a larger swat of land for people to take his/her proclamation seriously. (this would also make e.g. iberian kingdoms less silly, as if you are very prestigous you could form kingdoms of similar size)
I always found the dutchy/kingdom limitation a bit silly, especially since they vary so much in size. There are 1-2 province dutchies and there are like 10-ish ones. There are 3 province kingdoms, and there are kingdoms larger than all (5?) iberian ones. Realm size would probably make more sense in the end...

I mean, imagine holding Venice, a titular dutcy and 1 province of a 2 size dutchy. With 2 counties you can be a king!
Now imagine being in e.g. the steppes. Tought luck, you need like 15 provinces min for the same feat.


Slightly unrelated, but anyway:
I mostly play shattered world with all de-jure kingdoms wiped but creatable kingdoms/empires for every dutchy title. I'm currently tuning it to make them emerge in ways that make sense. One thing I notice is that the AI rarely seems to switch out of gavelkind (all start with it in the scenario), so realms often split before they can get real big. Also they don't seems to try to save up cash for creating titles, making the splitting even more common since even a guy with 7 dutchies and 4k prestige stays krown-less and under gavelkind. (true story BTW)

Any assistance on how to do this without a cheat will be much appreciated!

You can always try to conquer a christian province, then it should be easy to convert yourself AFAIK. A bit silly, but what's not silly in Paradox games? :)

Portugal can form with their historical territory, Bohemia starts formed. 2 duchies felt a bit too easy to get with the generally smaller duchy size of CK2+.

Portugal only went as far as Lisboa in its formation. In CK, this is one duchy and a half. Also, Bohemia only formed much latter than 1066 in reality, and the reason it exists so soon in the mod was to bypass the 3 duchy requirement and, thus, ensure the kingdom exists in a regular basis.

But thanks for you answer. If you say it is what is better from a gameplay perspective than I guess I should only believe.

Portugal gets a titular duchy for this exact reason, so they can form with just territory to Lisboa. I would do the same with Bohemia but I don't think there is any title I could really use for a third Bohemian duchy.

Out of curiosity, what are the mechanics involved with the patrician estate holding? I was wondering if it would be possible for unlanded characters to be awarded a titular title that enabled them to have an estate like republican families have?

I was thinking ahead for the Old Gods expansion. Maybe unlanded adventurers could have a "longship fleet" or "raiding party" you could upgrade...

I don't know if this a bug to do with your mod or not, but I was duke of meath and leinster, and fabricated on claim on the county of oriel. Oriel was owned by a prince bishop, and I couldn't press my strong claim on it, when I hovered over declare war it said I needed a casus belli. I wasn't in debt and didn't have troops raised btw.

edit: Sorry I clicked on the character and saw he had a modifier "truce" for two more years, how do you get that?

Easy. Marry a courtier of your religion to the person you want to invite to your realm (make sure you only pick an unlanded character). Then invite that courtier back into your court. The courtier will come with their Christian spouse.

Real life was much sillier. The Lithuanian Grand Duke converted just for the convinience of being able to be crowned King. There were also quite a few pagan nations that had kings that were pretty much Christian in name only.

He also did that because he looked for some protection against Teutonic Order

Thanks. I got confused by the multiple different conditions. I only recently downloaded CK2Plus, so I'm a bit new at this. But from what I can tell, your mod seems highly superior to the vanilla game. Keep up the good work.

Easy. Marry a courtier of your religion to the person you want to invite to your realm (make sure you only pick an unlanded character). Then invite that courtier back into your court. The courtier will come with their Christian spouse.
You can't have a court chaplain of another a religion and you can't educate a child in a different religion or culture than your capital.

My goal was to get a Christian court chaplain which would trigger the event to convert me however it appears I can't invite any Christians to my land as they consider me of 'false religion'.
Furthermore, children (heirs) don't get converted in CKplus either.

Any assistance on how to do this without a cheat will be much appreciated!
I'm not sure if foreign rulers accept heathen wards, if they do you could send him abroad to be educated then take the decision to convert to your native culture when they become ruler.
