Wrong thread, this is CK2+, not AGOT, although AGOT is an excellent mod.

So, I just noticed in my game that two Patricians in the same dynasty somehow managed to get -25,000 prestiege each... reducing their dynasty score to somewhere around -40,000.... I dont have the Republic so im not sure what could be causing this exactly.

No it doesn't. Bankrupting half the AI's is realistic? LOL. Certainly isn't fun. It takes away from them money that they should be spending on things to make my game more challenging. Not some phantom banker. I know I'll not be taking out any loans in the game, ever... so it's a feature that equals LOWER fun.
What bankrupting are you talking about lol? Everyone in my game (including me) always taking loans and then repaying them without any problems, never saw AI ruining something by taking a loan. It's a very useful feature.

I doubt people will agree with me... But I'll say it anyway. Combat is much too likely to have negative effects on your character... I decided to try the scattered world scenario and started off as a count in a country that has a extra castle. I did a ruler builder with a high martial skill thinking that would be useful. I ended up restarting twice because my count kept dying in the first or second war to claim a new country. Seeing as I had only been playing for a few years there was little point in waiting 10+ years for the successor to come of age so I restarted. And essentially the same thing happened again.

Third time around I finally got kind of lucky and instead of dying my character was only maimed... Then of course he gets ill a few years later and dies almost instantly. Had to wait something like 8 years for the successor to reach ruling age. Thankfully it was his mother that was the regent so I didn't have to worry about her trying to kill me unlike my other game...

Then continuing my bad string of luck... Had been ruling with this character for about 8 years when I get into another war; I outnumbered this guy something like 4 to 1 and he had low morale, yet somehow he managed to outright kill my character...

I gotta say that this is kind of crazy. I agree that battles should be dangerous, but it's not like the count/duke is on the front lines charging headlong into the enemy, or at least I wouldn't think he should be. Also, one would think that if a character has a high martial skill (12+) that they would be even less likely to be hurt or die in a battle.

Just wanted to get this out there as I find it maddening and really makes martial skilled player characters worthless.

Two other small points... I haven't played CK2 for a while and thus I'm new to the retinues. Why does it seem like I need a large kingdom just to get a small group? I have three duchies, 7 demense holdings, and something like another 5 counts under me (not counting all the barons) and my retinue count is only about 400. I believe you need 900 for the smallest troop. What goes into this calculation and what is the best way to max the numbers?

Last point, is there any thoughts on reducing trait flip flopping? Drives me nuts to have someone who is kind all of a sudden flip to cruel, or a craven flip to brave or vice versa. I get it if they don't have the trait and I suppose it should happen sometimes, but a brave person shouldn't all of a sudden become craven so easily..

Anywho I enjoy this mod. Keep up the great work.

retinue is tied to a tech called military organization, if you want to get more retinues you might wanna focus on that.

it's suppose to simulate the transition from levies to standing army in that period, so by the end of the game (strictly speaking they removed the time limit, but you get my point) the armies will be huge.

What are the traits on your character? The only reason you should be getting those events (death, maimed, etc) alot is if you have a lot of traits that increase those chances.

The primary character was built similar each time, I would get proud, strong, sometimes cynical, sometimes brave and then the highest military education. My guy would end up being about 38 starting. Martial skill would be upper teens with health being six...

Remove your ruler from leading the army if you can. Also Your court is probably small so the chance's of your ruler being singled out in the battle are far greater I must imagine. Also Traits like Brave tend to get you killed, and Craven quite the opposite, they have hidden modifiers.

Strong reduces your chance of getting the bad events, Brave increases it rather extremely.

Brave characters have an increased chance of dying in battle. Also bad luck with the RNG etc.
