How are you planning on integrating the new kingdoms and empires in CK2plus with the new system of dynamic de jure regions and the ability to form titular titles in upcoming 1.05?

Not sure yet. I'll have to look at the actual practical way the system works before deciding.

That'll mess up the numbering of rulers. What you've done, I think, is for the best.

I might also be able to kill claims in the history files using remove_claim. I'll give it a shot anyway.

In the feudal system the pope is gods representative on earth, just like Jesus was before him.

So in RL the pope was above both emperors and kings. He shouldn't be able to become somebodies vassal and for gods sake, not a heathen. I don't know about the mod but in vanilla I have seen a muslim pope. :p

But this is not a historic mod, so why not just let the pope stay as he is.

The Pope will automatically become Catholic in CK2+ if a non-Catholic gets the title. No Muslim Popes.

I really haven't thought through the game play or realism fully. But before after a massive civil war you could reshape the realm by punishing all offenders (those who join the rebellion). Now a new ruler won't have the prestige to do so to more than one of the rulers, or perhaps a couple if revoking titles instigates yet more wars. -

This could be a good thing, stopping me from creating an unrealistic realm full of my dynasty (and hence the massive civil wars). Regardless, it's the change that most effects my play this update.

Tyranny would pretty much stop you from doing that unless you revoked every single person in the realm, anyhow. The prestige cost is mainly meant to be a check on the Muslim revoke law, but I also felt it made revoking less of a must-do option when beating a rebellious vassal.

So wait, why is this an issue? Russian dukes having claims on each other makes perfect sense, since they're all related. I don't see why you'd want to remove that. I don't know about Poland, but I do know they did expand westwards quite a bit during this time period, so again, I don't see why you'd want to gimp them. If this is just an artificial way to make things more static, I'd really rather you not do this. Russian fighting each other endlessly over existing claims is a historical and very fun thing to see or do in games, in my opinion.

Because it leads to wildly ahistorical results, aka Russia being unified by 1080 every single game. They don't 'fight each other endlessly' because someone always wins right away.

As for Poland, they end up with Novgorod and Finland every single game with their claims in place. It's incredibly stupid.

Nah, I didn't touch Bohemia's claims but I did kill the HRE claim to Aquitaine since the HRE owning the southern half of France was another of those 'stupid things that always almost happen'. It's not that I mind if Russia unifies or Poland expands east or the HRE ends up with Aquitaine, but I mind if it happens in almost every single game.

I actually ran handsoff games to test the effects of the various claims and Rus formed before 1100 in 100% of the games I ran. Considering this absolutely did not happen in history it seems like a problem to be fixed to me.

In vanilla, HRE also has an annoying tendancy to grab Norway. And then conquer the rest of Scandinavia.

I've actually figured out what causes this - Norway tends to elect Queens who almost invariably marry into the Emperor's family, ending up with the HRE inheriting Norway. I've switched Norway to Agnatic to try and stop this from happening, until I can figure out a way to make AI Queens less willing to wipe out their own dynasties.

(It sure would be nice if Elective didn't break down to 'everyone votes for the ruler's candidate'...)

That's all very hardcoded unfortunately. I was thinking of adding events to force female rulers to marry matrilineally, but I haven't found a add_spouse command for matri marriages.

Hi Wiz, been playing 1.01 extensively and have a few observations.

Blobs seem impervious. France and HRE never were in any trouble during the 200 years I played. Civil wars appeared very rarely and the AI very rarely pressed claims.
World seems more stable. Way more stable. Wars seem to happen quite rarely with even the first page of the ledger hardly ever being filled.
Plagues are very rare. Had them only appear in my lands every twenty or so years. When they did they didn't make much of an impact. IE maybe one or two elderly or young casualties.
Never took any prisoners from battle during all those years. Bad luck?
Never saw any child die from childbirth events. Good luck?

While I love a lot of the changes I do feel that the gameworld has become a rather tame and save place. Especially compared to real medieval Europe.

While I agree that 1.0 is more stable than 0.32, I've had multiple empires speculularily collapse in both 1.00 and 1.01 so it might just have been a fluke game for you. I'll have to evaluate the effects of my plague changes. No changes to prisoners or childbirth deaths recently, so that's just down to luck.

As I said before, I don't want blobs to be perfectly stable but I don't think the near-constant civil wars of 0.32 were good either as it prevented the AI from being a credible challenge to the player.

I've noticed that initial technology levels remain the same across all start-dates. I'm sure this is because it was set to be at 0 for Christian rulers manually, and that it would be a pain to update for all the available start dates. I'm not sure how much of an impact this makes on game-play or if it makes the later-game less balanced. Perhaps technology levels could be updated for the defined start date?

The way you set tech is very primitive. There's not much I can do about the way its handled.

Not sure if this is happening for anyone else, my heir switches between Eldest and 2nd eldest son in Primogeniture succession, seems to be happening when i capture new lands?

I've noticed something that may or may not be a bug: before, when a duke rebelled against my rule, after I'd beaten them to the dirt, I could revoke one of their titles without a tyranny penalty. I no longer seem able to do this as of 1.01.

What happened was probably that the Duke died and his heir continued the war or you died and your heir continued it. Doing so will remove the revoke reason, this is a vanilla issue.

Bumping this one because it's really driving me nuts. I was really surprised not to find this in defines.lua aka the usual suspect. Could you please shed some light here, Wiz? You really turned around the prestige and piety for declaring for instance holy war and I'm really curious to find out what you did. Thanks!

I was looking at the technology tree and I noticed that the 5th rank of Heavy Armor research is actually a reduction from the previous level. It goes: 10 - 15 - 20 - 25 - 20

I tried only with holy war. Wehn my king dies again I will try with others as well. I was the warleader.

prestige suggestion

how about adding small bonus to troop morale, levy reinforcement rate and siege defense for prestige ?

the logic would be,,,, the higher your prestige, the more people will be willing to join your army and will have more confidence in you

think Alexander or julius cesar, the more famous you are, the more people will be attracted to your cause and make a stronger effort...its all in the psychological effects

This is an interesting idea, but can't think of a way to do it besides ugly triggered modifiers.
