I started as Bobo and expanded towards the Sahara in Africa, swearing fealty to Ghena for survival.
It's 1141 now and I can't seem to make it past the year without the game CTD. I tried about 6 loads and got the same result each time, though at different parts in that year it seems to happen more towards the end of it.

Here's the autosave.

Did you do a clean install or install over an old version? Latter is confirmed as causing CTDs.

Just approx. time would be much appreciated.

It seems to me that there is way too much money in the game. In one game starting in 1066 it was about the year 1180/1200, i conquered the duchy of estonia to give it the teutonic order. When I checked the newly conquered land, the cities already had built a small university and generally were already maxed out, waiting for better tech to further upgrade their buildings. A pagan university in 1180?
Also heresies absolutely destroy nations. In one game the French queen turned heretic, which meant " holy war free for all", i took Flanders and turned it into a republic= cashcow. In another game the HRE selfcombusted because the emperor turned heretic. Could you make it so that whenever a Ruler turns heretic, his vassals try to depose him (the not- de jure vassals breaking off is okay by me). The heretic holy war for outsiders seems overpowered as well. Certainly when a ruler turns heretic, other nations should be able to interfere. But again but it should only be to topple the existing ruler and replace him with non-heretic ruler.

I had kinda normal rates for crusades. I`d say they came about every 50 years from 1100. I think they will be a lot less likely after 1250 since the arrival of the mongols changes the dynamic anyways

Just another happy thank you from someone who probably wouldn't keep playing CK2 much without CK2+ If a new version arrives tomorrow, or in your stated 1-2 weeks, or in several months or not at all, I'm still happy and really enjoy it.

Question for other users - do you guys load in any other mods with this one? What's easily compatible?

If a ruler turns heretic, he is entitled to his crazy hoy wars, even if vassals dissapprove, which they do, with the infidel opinion modifier. This modifier also gives strength to the idea of them revolting seeking independance or trying to depose him. What you ask, is already implemented in game.

If anything, perhaps a bigger negative modifier should be made for infidel lieges in addition to the regular infidel modifier, as I doubt any vassal would resist too much under the rule of an infidel liege. And this should apply to all religions relationships, not just heretics.

Are huge courts for the AI normal? I was wondering why my game seems to get disproportionately bogged down in later game and I noticed that the great sultan of the seljuk turks had a court size of 819! Is this WAD? It is 1237 in that instance. He's been holding onto just one county for at least 30~ years.

I think I see what you're talking about. A few courts in my game have ballooned up, and I think its because of runaway generation of concubines (most of the court seems to be young women). Oddly enough, it's not a universal problem; most courts are fine.

I don't suppose there's a chance of you reducing the amount of heresy? Or... reducing the likelihood of the Holy Roman Emperor adopting a heresy?

Heretic HRE is basically a start over event, if you're playing in the HRE and it comes in the first... 150 years or so. It's annoying to lose hours of gameplay because of it.

Requests:

* "would be a hostage in a foreign power" should not apply to the heir of your kingdom, or your children. In the latter case it should never apply and in the former if not always then say if the realm he would inherit (yours) is greater in power than the one he's currently at then it should be allowed.

* "has no reason to move" should not apply to your dynasty (for balancing it could be if your title > their current lord's title).

* "has no reason to move" should not apply to courtiers - if you can't get your talented guy a job, then he should be free. if the goddamn King of another country takes notice of your unemployed ass I'd say that's some pretty good reasons.

* don't know if this is possible but it could be a good flavor addition to make the above into a contract-like promise that if you don't keep loses you prestige (since he probably would say "the freakin KING came and asked me to be his spymaster" to everyone he knows. in addition to having other options besides gifts

I'd love to see courtiers be much more of a valuable commodity than they currently are, and preferably remove the random generation as well.

I've heavily modded CK1 and EU3 in the past so can help out if needed!

Oh btw wiz, that court moved in my current (not included save) to Azerbaijan and is at 1400 now >.>

Is this potentially the source of my immense game slowdown? I don't believe it's my system specs, but I'll throw them up here just in case. I start any given game with being able to go 5 speed no problems, but within 100-200 years 5 speed drops to more like ~3 speed actual. The game itself even starts to lag and system restarts/reloading the game doesn't change that.

Would it be possible to be able to offer vassalization to lower-ranked rulers who currently have the same liege as you? It could make it a bit more interesting for a non-independent duke or king to expand their holdings within the same realm, and I don't think it would be overpowered, especially if there was an extra "-" or two associated with the case. And if the realm laws allows inter-vassal wars, there would be good reason for a count to wish for a duke's protection in addition to the king's.

I think I know what's causing the enormous courts, and will be fixing it.

I plan to take a look at the wars ending inconclusively tomorrow, but I really need some information:
1) Does anyone know if this is a vanilla issue too, or only CK2+?
2) What types of wars are ending inconclusively when someone is called in (ie war against tyranny, holy war, etc)?
3) Do they end when anyone is called in, or only sometimes?

Hi Wiz. Just wanted to start by saying thank you for your work. I enjoy your mod and check this thread everyday for updates!

On the subject of wars ending inconclusicely I can give some info from my current game.

Started at 1066 as the duke of holland. I have had a title claim war with the duke of Glere for the County of Glere while he was the duke and count(I think). It was his sole county, and I owned the other 2 that are de jure. I had just called my wife, the duke of Thungaria(spelling?) to join me, and she did, we were in process of sieging the county when the war just ended. I do recall a faint memory of my leige raising all of the HRE's levys, but I'm not sure if it is true or not. Sorry if that screws with the usefulness of this whole post but maybe it also would be a good clue... I was able to redeclare war and won.

Thanks again

OK, I browsed the bug report forums and it definitely seems to be a vanilla issue. Nothing I can do about it then.

After fixing it, game performance has improved a *lot*. Fixing this also seems to have woken up the AI, it's certainly acting more aggressively than before.
