The neat thing about the new empires is that it gives you something to shoot for once you've already got a portion of that potential empire under your control, but it does kind of seem like an awful lot of "king of kings" to be floating around for what is essentially a bigger de jure kingdom. How about instead of forcing in empires where there doesn't necessarily need to be new empires, to use the dynamic de jure regions in 1.05 and add events to expand a kingdom in a particular way? Like, if you like the borders that your Franconia empire has, instead of dealing with advancing the kingdom that way, put in a decision that allows you to expand the de jure borders of the kingdom of france to include those duchies if you have all of those duchies under your control for a short time?

This is not possible to do. There's no event command for switching De Jure title. Besides, another point of the Empires is that they let you have King vassals for when your realm gets really big. If they bug you it's easy enough to use the No New Empires module and just rely on vanilla De Jure assimilation.

Hey Wiz, there seems to be a bug or some sort of issue with AI war management and levy raising, at least during the early game:

The year is 1119, and I've seen this happen four times now, between Galicia and Leon, the HRE, Hungary, and Scotland, when a war for the crown seems to stalemate without any change in holdings, any troop movement, or any change in warscore for years. The last 3 examples were civil wars, the first one was a war between the crown and a claimant. In each example, when I loaded the save as that country, I noticed that the armies on both sides were essentially depleted and unable to capture new holdings, and thus were just standing about. The AI refused to levy new troops, for some reason, and thus the wars just dragged on with no end.

This is a vanilla issue, where the AI won't re-raise troops unless its armies are completely wiped. There's nothing I can really do about it.

Was the option the Help Dukes in Independence wars removed?
In my last game playing as duke in Sicily I was able to declare wars on the HRE by helping the Dukes/Counts that wanted to become independent with the offer assistance CB.

Was this removed? If so... the HRE is gonna be much tougher now :(

I'm wondering about this one as well. Is the option "offer to join a war" removed? Can't find it in the change log.

Offering to join wars was only supposed to work for religious wars, since that's the only thing the AI understands. It being an option for other CBs was a bug.

The first patch note for 1.05 is "- You can now ask to join many types of wars", unless you meant it was bugged in CK2Plus specifically

"Many types" translates to "Crusades" and "Holy Wars." from what I've seen. I don't know of any other wars you can ask to join in vanilla.

Quick test as Arborea in vanilla 1.05c.

I rather like being able to join in wars of Independence. In a Lombardy game, it allows you to win independence from the HRE and then help guarantee the independence of fellow (non-allied) Italian states instead of watching them slowly get gobbled back up by the HRE, one by one.

Looking at the vanilla CBs, it seems independence war is the only exception. Considering only the player can use it, I think it's better to leave it non-joinable.

I like having the option because I feel the alliance system is overly constraining. There would be times when I would offer help out of my own interest, not just blood ties. History is more complex than "only close marriage ties are real alliances."

This one is a very simple change to the cb_types.txt though, for people like Kerschey and I. ;)

What kind of war is it?

De Jure Duchy claim/fabricate claim to a province. It's been both English on Welsh and welsh v welsh and english vs. english. My Duchy of York have piecemealed themselves into a blob of lancaster/northumbria/york with fabricate claim and creating/usurping duchies over just two generations.

Another question- what are the current thoughts on levies? Part of what I've found about cross-ocean campaigns or Crusades (and some wars in general) is that you can raise an entire army of 5k as a small kingdom, send it to attack a powerful duchy or another small kingdom, and crush their 3k-5k smartly/with luck. You have your remaining 2k-4k soldiers. You start to seige one city. Before you finish/as you finish that seige, they reraise 1k-3k troops. You crush them/chase them down, since if they deathstack they will tear up your army. By the time you settle into a new seige, they raise 2k more. You keep doing this, and over the course of a couple years, your original army of 5k is like 1.5k, and the AI is still raising 1k-2k troops every 4-6 weeks, having lost tens of thousands of men. Is there anything like the war exhaustion of EU3 to implement? I've found that the less battles are worth as war score, the more and more frustrating this is. I've given up on crusades and wars with any 'real' powers in general because being the defender is so incredibly powerful.

This is not possible to do. There's no event command for switching De Jure title. Besides, another point of the Empires is that they let you have King vassals for when your realm gets really big. If they bug you it's easy enough to use the No New Empires module and just rely on vanilla De Jure assimilation.
Are you sure? In this mod, it looks like there are events that cause shifts of de jure duchies. I personally would play CK2+ if there were only three empires: HRE, ERE and Latin.

It would be cool as well to have events that shift de jure counties into new duchies, so that we can have the duchies setup in Saxon England and then get it switched to the classical English setup if the Norman conquest succeeds.

But Closet Skeleton in that thread said it's not possible, I wonder why (the mechanics should be the same, why hasn't Paradox decided to de-hardcode it? have we really tried?).

P.S. I do not play CK2+ with the optional "no extra empires" submod because it even annoys me to watch those empires on the de jure empires mapmode.

I think that mod affects the history files, instead of using in game events.
