no one commenting on the fact we can start at ANY DAY between 1066-1452(?), or is this common knowledge already?

it was ;)

EDIT- It seems some of the opinion modifiers are State diplomacy (?), long reign, Gavelkind succession (presumably any succession law that weakens the king the vassals like), Demense too big, liege is strong, liege is diligent, liege is brave and ambition.

2nd EDIT - there also seems to be honorary titles which I guess are like the titles in Rome

I don't like fussy discussions on provinces for which are usually overlooked those important things, but I have to agree with some critics- to the east of Germany they seem at least very unconventionally (e.g. unhistorical provices of czech lands like in CK1) ...

I think the lack of vassal CoA is a very brilliant improvement for as long as accessing the king's vassals is easy.

About the map mode. They're not getting rid of the political map mode. If you look in the screenshots on websites, you can see there are screenshots of the political map mode. What they are doing is improving the terrain map mode which is brilliant because I will definitely use the terrain map mode if it's more useful compare to the previous Paradox games.

I like the interface
I don't care where the province borders come down around (so long as the names correspond somewhat) after all, everything is modable, and there will be various map mods representing various province borders, from various moments of the time period represented.
I don't even care if the political map mode is out, cause there will be a mod for that as well in zero time.

I just want a game with rich gameplay posibilities, great new functional and smooth interface and map, and stability stability and late game stability.

Wow, game is looking very pretty, very polished. This bodes well. That scroll speed was buttery smooth, but judging by how long it took to load as the King of Poland I pressume this was a stripped down demo. Either that or you're running it on an i9 I wasn't aware of.

Nice work Johan and company.

After writing that post, I thought about Sambia as well, but I know where my confusion comes from. Check coast of Prussia in the screenshots from CK2, and check the real coast of Prussia. They just do not match: I can't find where Sambia should really lie on that map.

My map consists of borders drawn over actual historical map from a historical atlas via Wikipedia. I think I did add a province or two here or there, but it's generally the same thing.

I am pretty sure that coastline cannot be drawn accurately in historic game... It has changed a lot, because land has come higher (cant say it in english properly) and other things and historical maps arent very accurate also (In wikipedia usually 1600 and this game is in 1100-1500). So developers vague thing isnt bad

l- why give so much attention to terrain map? nearly nobody plays it in that mode. most people play in political view :)

I for one will be using the terrain map. As has been said, in previous games territory has been much more easily identified on the political map, but it seems quite clear here. I imagine Paradox has such an aim given what a waste it would be to not use the terrain map!

Map looks brilliant, and the Jan 2011 is a great date for 2011! It's not all that far away.

Sorry... where can we see this?

You can't see what they are but you can see that they exist around 2.41. One of the buttons says "award honorary title"
