During playing, the game is crashing to the desktop.
I'm running on Arch Linux (always having all latest updates in the system), with Steam client installed.
CK2 (v2.3) is kept up2date via the Steam client.

It suddenly started two days (21.dec.2014) ago, after I played the same game for several hours without any problem, when I got first crast at the evening.
Not sure whether it is anyhow related, but it started after I passed the beginning of game year 1303, and no matter what I did, whether I started a war or just kept the game running in a peace state, withing 6-8 months the game always crashed.
Downgrade to v2.2.1 isn't helpful because this downgraded version cannot load a save of v.2.3, just shows UNSUPPORTED.

So I tried to load an older autosave (just one game year older).
It helped only partially in that way, that it gave me about two-three another game years when the crashes started again in game year 1306 right from the beginning of the year.

Actually, as this is a known bug in the Linux version of the game, moving to Bug Reports.

There's no real fox or workaround, unless you can get the game onto a Windows or Mac box as they are unaffected by the bug.

All crashes are not necessarily from the same cause. Check your stack also has the line

Saying use an entirely different OS is not a valid answer when you sell it to users of that OS.

This is GAME BREAKING.

Hello, I am also having frequent crashes. The strange thing is, I played a game where I was in Acquitaine about 1 week ago, and it never crashed (3 generations of my dynasty). Now I started several games - all of them as Norse Pagans and the crashes start coming after about 17-20 years of gameplay. Could it be norse or pagan related? Or maybe cause the Acquitaine game I used a later start (867 instead of 769)

Other OS is not possible for me.

Ok, just after writing this post I reloaded it again and based on what I read here, i.e Province21CanBuildNewSettlementE15ESettl ementTypeP10CCharacterP11CSettlement
I took a look at my technology and I click advance 'Military Organization'.. which I did, and checked my holding if I could now build something new - it was not the case..

But (!) no more crash.. just played for 2h straight

Not sure if that really did solve it, cause in other events my wife no longer got pregnant (compared to previous loads when it crashed)

Not sure if I'm helpful at all, but maybe someone desperate enough can try something similar like I did..

Just advanced a tech but the game still crashes at the same date, maybe only a specific tech works but I didn't have a lot to choose from. Thanks for the suggestion anyway, enjoy being able to play again. :)

I just updated to v2.3.2, and tested it from my last save, where previously a crash followed shortly after unpausing the game, and now it seems to be stable, no crashes for the short time I've tested it. thx

It looks like the crash that ought to be fixed in v2.3.2. So it should work. For those that haven't, make sure to update your game and try it out in the new version.
