Hm, right now, my list would be:
1. Crusader Kings II (the game that really surprised me the most in this decennium - bravo, bravo, bravo!)
2. Tropico-series (altough it has become too easy). Still love the idea and the atmosphere. Could be more focused on handling the different factions though.
3. Rise of Prussia and other AGEOD games (once you understand them!
- great unique and often overlooked topics, very deep game mechanics, great maps)
4. Gettysburgh Scourge of War (for messengers, command from the saddle, awesome multiplayer experience)
5. Combat Mission - Fortress Italy (tactical WW II Simulation, and no more f***** hedges!)
6. War of the Roses (nice idea, but unfortunately bad execution)
(Baldurs Gate not included since it is too old, and, as I read it here, how could i Forget: Age of wonders II?!)
Since they went all 3d, the total war series are awefull. They're but nice programs to create little movies with hollywood-esque "battle" scenes.
I just hope that some day, there will be a well-made "the guild"-game for a more grown-up audience, set in the baroque age.

I wouldn't put it on top of my list, but yes, definitely somewhere in the top10, 20 range. Great game, great fun and fairly unique on top. Of course, there's always room for improvement... ;o)
No, just looks like you prefer higher graphically based tactical engines, FPS and first person RPG's to Paradox's style of grand strategy. That's your preference, not flakworthy.
I guess you just don't like Grand Strategy that much.
Also, Skyrim 3rd? Jesus... I guess you started playing TES with Skyrim.

Oblivion, ME, Skyrim, DA, what? Seems like someone likes pseudo-rpgs for casuals... bleh, those games are destroying RPG industry. : /
I like a wide variety of games. Fifa, Madden, Mount and Blade, Total war, Victoria and Ck2, the Battlefields and Battlefronts, Mass effect and Dragon Age (I think EA ruined the sequels to both of these games). Not a big fan of MMO though.

It's not that I dislike CKII. I really like it! I have over 600 hours on it, it's just that there are other games out there I prefer. A game cannot be "The Best" that's a childish take on things. There are some things people enjoy more than others, and is no definite best.
CKII is a great game though.

Not really. As amazing as CK2 is, it really suffers from being too easy and, oddly enough, predictable. Feudal life should be trickier and more dynamic, rather than just the blob fest most games end up as. CK2 should be that even holding to an area the size of England should give enough challenge to last until 1453.
