A little off topic but damn did Steam have some awesome deals these last few days. I must have spent at least 2k since Thanksgiving. Granted 1700 of that was on a new PC but I've bought like 10 games all of which were at least 50% off. Some are as much as 80% off. Can't beat those deals. I'll be honest I used to pirate my games because I didn't want to dish out $50-60 on a single game but with Steams sales I buy all my games now, even the ones I pirated in the past.
When does Steam do other sales like this? I know they had a huge one in the summer. Unfortunately I was broke so I couldn't get much then. Do they do another sale like this around Christmas or in the Spring?

Steam usually does sales for the major holidays of the year. Summer, Halloween, and Christmas are almost guaranteed to have some sort of sales. (The Autumn sales caught me by surprise. I didn't expect one to happen so soon before Christmas holidays.)
Yes, there are some really good deals. I was thinking to myself that I should get Legacy of Rome, but I kept procrastinating until I saw it on Steam for $1.50. I also got some of the other small add-ons as well.

What exactly do I get out of Legacy of Rome besides retinues?
The latest patch added factions to my game, I can't seem to join them, but so far I am assuming that that is related to me holding the kingdoms.
The same goes for the single levies from vassal lords.
I also got the improve skill ambitions and events, as well as the "Flanking Leader" and what not attributes.
Would buying the DLC only give me the retinues and a better ERE (I am assuming this would apply to me and the AI)? Because that seems a bit lackluster, more so since I don't plan on playing the ERE any time soon.
While I am at it, what about the Sword of Islam? While I am interested on playing a Muslim nation, that isn't at the top of my to do list on CK2. I THINK I had the assassins event fire on my new game, so I was wondering if those are included in the new patches, and therefore make the DLC useless except for playing as Muslim.

Actually, you might want to have those two eventually, given that a few total conversion mods might use the Muslim mechanics elsewhere, or something like that, and same for LOR.
Are you referring to the mods to transfer the game to EU3/EU4? Or just regular mods?
So far, I haven't played any Paradox mods, although I am interested on doing the conversion from CK2 to EU.
However, if that would be the only reason to get them, I can always just buy them whenever EU4 and the mod come around :/

Sword of Islam on Steam is 75% off for about 3 hours at the moment.
Could anyone quickly say whether it's worth buying? Mainly does it add any useful things to the game that I wouldn't have without it?
I don't mean the fact that, obviously it adds playable Muslims, but more the fact that, for example, without Legacy of Rome the player can't use retinues. So is there anything like that that would make it worth getting? I don't plan on playing as a Muslim much, but if there's any mechanic that I'm missing out on, then it would be good to know while the sale's on.

And no, SoI doesn't make Muslism more OP, everything was already patched in. Buying the expansion enables the option to play a Muslim ruler.

Just got CK1 and all the DLC I didn't already have for $5.
The way DLC works in CK2 is that purchasing the DLC only enables the content. Everything is added to your game via patch. That way you can play multiplayer with anyone, not just the people who have the exact same DLC as you.

Yes it's worth it especially at 75% off. The Fatimids are OP but they are OP without SOI so it's not the DLC. Playing as Muslims is also a nice change to Christians. It's a much more aggressive game.
To be honest, anything relating to this game at 75% off is worth the purchase.
