CK2 on Mac

I am having a bit of trouble on CK2 mac. The shields that represent every independent state on the map flicker, turn black and have strange tesselations. The borders of the world map do the same. The game is SUPER slow, with 5/5 speed it maybe goes at 1 day every 2 seconds, and occasionally it freezes. The music still plays and I can move my mouse, and the buttons react to me hovering over them. However, I cant move around on the map or click anything.

Ive read that disabling those state shields reduces the lag and crashing, but I cant find where to do that. The graphics settings are EXTREMELY limited, with only 3 options available.

I also have tried to use CK2 on my iMac (with Lion OSX 10.6.8).

It is also very slow and unstable, and I'd like to be able to speed it up. I also get purple water, or maybe it's that everything blue appears purple? I've searched the forums looking for a solution to that, and although the problem has been mentioned, I never found a solution for it.
Also, patching seems to break it about 50% of the time, forcing a clean install to make sure it works.

Are you both running the latest patch? I remember this problem when I first started running CK2 on my Mac partition, whenever that was, and it was resolved relatively quickly.

I found upgrading from 10.6 to 10.8 made a HUGE difference. I used to have flickering graphics, now everything looks like it should. I knew the problem wasn't the graphics card itself, since the game always fine on my Windows partition, but I wasn't expecting the upgrade to Lion to make that big of a difference.

If you have the Intel Macbooks then this has been a problem, and yes 10.8 does have much much better video drivers in it for those Intels.

There are more graphics options available in the settings.txt files under your Documents CK2 folder.
