As of now there is no rule about save-scumming. Please propose something as I am very willing to add one. But this will be pretty hard to enforce.
He really must've reloaded a lot or spent most of the time in paused mode as he stated doing a WC in 82 years took him a couple of hundred hours, though ^^. I just wanted to add the record as 1) there was now fastest ducal WC before and 2) his end year is the one that came nearest to my 1141.

Save-Scumming is one thing, save-loading at times is another.

I've said that I loaded my game maybe a few times per year. I played my last years in 5-10 hours / year, doing thousands of actions in the meantime, forgetting lots of things etc.

Let's assume you put such a rule. How would you know?

Also there's a thousand cheesy ways out there.. I can finish the game with a million or more points.. Would that be counted or not?

Why is all the hate?..

Save-Scumming is one thing, save-loading at times is another.

Personally, I don't think there's a difference. Either you take what the RNG throws at you, or you pick and choose to get better/more fun results. Either way is fine to play, but the latter doesn't make sense in a "competition".

Edit: Also, "a few times a year" is a *lot* IMO, but I normally play at a higher pace, never pausing except for events. Just another reason it's pretty difficult to draw a line between save-scumming and "normal" save-reloading.

Why is all the hate?..

No hate, everyone is free to play how they like. However, there should be some rules if a "record" is to have any meaning. What those rules should be is debatable.

No hate, no hate at all. As I said above I do not consider reloading cheating per se. If I raise 200K levies after I declared three wars only to find out that I planned to declare a fourth one I might reload from my yearly save point to avoid having to disband and re-raise all those levies.
But to be frank reloading when a ruler died to prevent all the turmoil / have him rule some more years just takes away a lot of the challenge. Same thing with wars: If you reload when the big blob attacks you'll gain a big advantage. Even if it's doable to win that war you would have lost land, men and time.

I guess most of the people save-reload from time to time. If you do a complete play through and reload 5-6 times I wouldn't consider that cheating. Put this is of course only my opinion.

If I were to write a rule, it would be that loading a save you've already played forward from is only allowed in case of crashes. But like I said, I'm OK with anything, I just didn't know reloading was allowed.

What record? I am not here to record anything.. I am too old to worry for such things..
Feel free to erase my name from anywhere you can..

I just played a game and wrote my related experiences during my gameplay.
Later on, I thought it would be useful to share these, so I shared.

But to make a note, I can break every record here legitimately (and I guess there's many out there who can), without any save-load but using a thousand cheesy ways..
Would it be an accomplishment? Would I be a great man?
Or just an idiot who spent hundreds of hours to brag on a forum, which will be obsolete in a few years..

I said that there were very few occasions where I reloaded the game due to such disturbances, but most of them were due to me being total newbie with the game and not knowing some features, or forgetting many things such as raising levies and forgetting to start a war against a nation just like the above.

For example I reloaded the game when all of a sudden my Kingdom crumbled in the beginning due to factions..
I did a few readings on factions, reloaded from a year back save, took care of the factions and never needed such a reload again.

The fact is, this was my first game.. So what? I should've just restarted all the times I learned something new?
Or should I have just memorised all the forums before even trying to play?

Heck, I didn't come here to prove anything.. It was just my 2 cents..

Well, unless bjorn1977 is Ben Johnson of CK2 who trained 10 years on the game, all could be done faster..
And many could do it..

Depends on what you want from the game, but IMO you should have just taken what came. Even if a faction beats you, it's rarely game over. You can continue on as a lower tier character and try to form a counter faction, no need to start a new game. It's not the only way to play, but it's one I recommend to any player who hasn't tried it, especially those who find the game easy to master.

But I guess this is quite off topic...

I feel like there should be a record up there for largest regnal number. My plan with the Dawn of Empires mod is to really test the system out by getting a Emperor Snag C (the 100th). It'd be interesting to see how high you can get in a vanilla game with the same named characters.

By abusing broken mechanics. There are ambitions for vassals that allow you to raise your stats infinitely. Only martial and learning are "normal" records.

Those other records are called "epic" records :p

I did have a pretty "legit" 41 diplomacy record before truly shattering my own record. But that's kind of the thing with this game, you find a way to abuse the mechanics to work in your favour. My lords seemed to love me enough to accept my trolling ways. They often weren't in too good a position to turn me away...they wouldn't want me in some other lord's court now would they :p

I also said "many can do it".. It doesn't mean I am uber, it just means most of the records here are not so hard and the game has lots of cheese..

Ben Johnson, he cheetahs all the time.

I guess if you didn't see the commercials for this canadian energy drink, it's not as funny. Long story short, he failed a drug test after winning gold at the olympics.

I like the regnal number idea. But it would have to be from your first character, as in you couldn't just start as Byz and have all your heirs be Konstanine (or whatever the most prevalent name is) since there are already like 10 of those emperors already. People would all pick the same kingdom to start with. I had made a game as a navarran queen and elected all the daughters with the same name. The goal was to make a female elective kingdom with high regnal numbers. It was really fun. Can't wait to get back to the game with this new expansion and make even greater numbers.

COuld you please post a link in this thread to the new one. I'm looking forward to setting some records!
I guess many of the old ones would still apply; creation of kingdoms and empires (that are not there from the start or otherwise obviously easy) are some of my personal favorites :)

There's no new thread. I will add new records to the OP eventually. You can already post new creating records here if you want. Most of them are pretty obvious: fastest Norway, fastest Sweden, etc

There should be a fastest reformation record for each religion that can do it (and for both 867 and 1066)
