I think you guys create this problem yourselves by playing CKII a bit "wrong", you play every game as you the great emotion less leader that always does what is best and only look at bad traits or stats like a hindrance. If you were to try and play the game "the right way" as an RPG you would see that this issue does not exist, play your game as the character you are given, if he is a craven he won't be starting wars, if he is honest he won't be assassinating people left and right, a just character won't take away tittles from people just because it makes the realm easier to control.

Oh and please take note of the use of these things "" I know there is no right or wrong way of playing the game but power gaming really is not they best way to enjoy CKII IMO.

I agree, people are playing these games way too seriously. You're not supposed to conquer Europe in CK2, and the only way you are is by being gamey all to hell.

Yeah I completely agree with you when I play Crusader Kings i start as a count and build my dynasty i try and make my decision that realistic as possible by slowly conquering the country not trying to take over all of Europe like some kind of mad man. I hope you can convert your saved game

Ok, guys. No. There is no "wrong" way to play this game. You want to powerplough through it - and you are capable of doing so? Good. Is it wrong? No.

It is a tad ridiculous, though, to tell "you will have conquered Europe by 1200, what will you convert", because at the same time staying small, cautious and RPing the characters is not wrong as well. You have two ways, both right, and one makes for enjoyable megacampaigns. What's strange about it?

Time to start my megacampaign
I don't really see the problem with the conversion ... Is like having a game with a timespan of a millennium that adapts the rules for the paradigm shift that is the reinassance and the age of explorations.
About blobs ... isn't that what actually happened a lot of times in history.
Was the roman empire not a blob? the ottoman empire? china and russia are not blobs even today?
Sure .. the longer you play the longer the map will be different from the historical one .. but isn't that the beauty of it?
Paradox grand strategy is the game of the "what if" and is incredibly fulfilling in that aspect...
What if norse paganism never disappeared and conquered most of europe?
What if the kingdom of italy remained a independent strong kingdom like france and never exploded in a cluster of feuding citystates?
What if the crusader managed to estabilish a lasting christian realm in the holy lands?
It's a lot like the butterfly effect... you win a battle instead of losing and by the end of europa universalis you don't have napoleon but a byzantine empire that was never really threatened by the turks.
Having more time means greater ripples... What makes it great is that ... real history was not a lot more plausible... real history is not more whacky than your standard game of crusader kings.
What would have been the world without the fourth crusade turned against the byzantines?
What would have been the world if Charles VIII of france died in the battle of Fornovo.
what would have been the world if england won the 100 years war?
Real world history scenario is a butterfly effect with its blobs and strange turn of events... so, nothing wrong with the game outcome .. is just alternate history

In most of my CKII games I start as a Kingdom and work towards an Empire with several King vassals. But with the conversion, I might play as counts and at most only work towards being a King for balance. Otherwise, the EU game could be working.

But even if you take it really slow, you'd have a kingdom in like 20-50 years(depending on luck and CBs). What would you do for the rest of the time?

See how far you can spread our dynasty rather than holding every title in a personal Union. EU IV still accounts for dynasties of the Rulers so would create a different dynamic
Or
Just see har far you can spread your dynasty without title grabbing. I had that goal in one game and was never more than a count but Every Christian Kingdom has a Dynast as at Least a Duke and two were Kings by end game.
Or
Create your European Rome Reborn Empire, then Convert to EU IV and play China or Japan and see if you can face the Monster you created.

Hmm...by the way, in EUIV, would all my vassal duchies or kingdoms(as an empire) become vassal states instead of part of my nation?

It depends from how the converter would work, I guess. In the one by Idhrendur, a sum of the laws of the kingdoms and of crown authority in them sets who gets absorbed and who doesn't.

how will this exporter work exactley?

Will I for example be able to play CK 2 with the CK + mod and then export it to EU IV and also play it with a mod?

No. Your mod would need to link to a new nation in EUIV as presumably you'd be playing with additional tags or with stats and events that wont cross over. The resulting save would probably be glitched and would need to be fixed manually.

Can't see why the devs should support a mod, to be honest. I can see them opening up the mappings, but directly working on it...no.

Depending on how it's made, it might be able to handle mods, given the right province/culture/religion mappings. The current CKII to EUIII converter dynamically creates country tags and such that it needs to and sticks them into a ready made mod, which works marvelously.

I agree, people are playing these games way too seriously. You're not supposed to conquer Europe in CK2, and the only way you are is by being gamey all to hell.

speak for yourself, my fun is taking over as much of Europe as I can, then seeing it crumble and attempting to do it again. Love watching the world change. Romans? They were nothing compared to my powerful empires of medieval times

I care not for realism because lets face it after you play more 100 years of even 20 the world changes and it is no longer true to real life...so my fun is rewriting it my way opposed to the AI's way.

I want to export my nearly all Christian Europe to EU4 :)

It would be something if the converter is one of the unknown preorder bonuses. I will be disappointed if it isn't but in the end, I guess it's not the end of the world. It would just allow me to play through a lot more scenarios.

Let me just add that if there was a converter, I would then buy the Aztec DLC for CK2. I saw no reason to before but it would be a must all of a sudden.
