It's completely destroyed by big blobs or conquered by Player Empire, or both. It's semi-random mess.
We have Pisa in Africa and England in Sweden. We have catholic Mongols in Russia.

I agree, i'm not very interested on that DLC, even if I can undestand that others want it.
I vote for EU4 -> HOI3 converter.

I am doing a mega campaign series on Youtube right now(still in CK2), I really would love an official converter, because that would mean i could go to EU4 instead of 3 once i'm done with CK2. It would be lovely. Also an EU4 to Vicky2 converter would be a dream come true
Maybe you don't export the whole save game, maybe you just export your dynasty and coat of arms, etc.

I think you're missing over a century there in your timeline.

I suspect this might be true, and I welcome it. I don't really want to enter an EU4 game with Europe dominated by a megablob, but it would be nice to have something carry over on a smaller scale.
Well not everyone blobs. Personally i tend to release douchy's/kingdom's that are not in my de jure empire. I love seeing the AI mix it up by himself, but still keeping an iron fist over them just in case. It's like playing a medieval USA
. Also i'm never the biggest empire, and when i converted my Brittania game to EU3 a few months ago i got DOW'ed by the French a few seconds after unpause, because they were the stronger country. If they make a converter i think I'll have a blast.
Nah, in Rome, you'd conquered Europe, in CK2, you prevent the hordes from settling, in EU4 you conquer the rest of the world, in V2 you colonise the remainings of the world.
And in HoI3 you arrange your troops in such a way that when you zoom out they form some sort of pattern or word.
I'm the same way, but if you play with a goal of setting up an EUIV game you'd enjoy, say a beefed up and wealthy HRE minor, you can start late and just choose not to expand, much. I played Robert "The Devil" Lusignan with the intent to stay an OPM. Granted, I did end up with a couple duchies, but I wasn't intending to blob and I don't think I would have blobbed (as it was I got Game Over-ed by combination of a powerful Sultan and a feckless HRE - I was winning the battles).
You don't have to blob if you don't want to, and who wouldn't want to start EUIV with a united Ireland (Scotland/Wales)? Or a pagan Norway?
In HoI3 you beat the Germans at Messina so the Soviets get Europe.
I think you guys create this problem yourselves by playing CKII a bit "wrong", you play every game as you the great emotion less leader that always does what is best and only look at bad traits or stats like a hindrance. If you were to try and play the game "the right way" as an RPG you would see that this issue does not exist, play your game as the character you are given, if he is a craven he won't be starting wars, if he is honest he won't be assassinating people left and right, a just character won't take away tittles from people just because it makes the realm easier to control.
Oh and please take note of the use of these things "" I know there is no right or wrong way of playing the game but power gaming really is not they best way to enjoy CKII IMO.
Without being too gamey I've found CK2 takes about 200 years to get stale. If you cycle countries at about 150~200 years, your EU4 map shouldn't be that bad (actually quite interesting, especially if one of your "legacies" doesn't crumble under AI control but flourishes because you built well). Then carry on to V2 with the same idea. That's my plan once EU4 comes out - it was the last thing that tipped me into preordering!
Alternatively, the 100-years war and rise of the Hansa start-dates for CK2 are actually pretty damn fun but give plenty of time to shape the map
