I can imagine if they are doing a CKII converter it's because CKII was a massive success for Paradox. If EUIV enjoys the same success (in part because you can tie them together via the converter) then if/when they make V3 they will probably do a inhouse converter from EUIV to V3 to try and tide the success over even further. All about riding the back of the wave that CK II created. They may do a HOI4 instead of a V3 next and then if thats a sucess work backwards and make V3 into HoI4 but you get the idea. It's all about the momentum.

im all for it. nothing more fun than blobbing over europe in a terribly a-historic way and then seeing how that relates to the rest of the world(what if FRANCE did the reconquista and jeruzalemm became hugely succesfull under a cadet branch of the french?). i do hope NI's will be a bit more dynamic for a converted game(giving france all kinds of bonusses when it doesnt even use them because of their situation is silly). doubt it, but a man can hope.

It would be great, but I seem to recall my EU3 ruling dynasty changing rather easily. It would be a real kick in the teeth to create your country after 600 years of play as the same dynasty, only to have an RNG change the dynasty.

Still, I am supportive of the idea and would buy it, even though, like most people it seems, I've never reached the end of a game. It will serve as my inspiration to keep going when I feel the urge to start a new game.

Supporting the idea of such DLC, I can say that this step can give аn additional support to sales of CKII - because big part of buyers of EUIV that haven't bought CKII will buy it to advance their experience. C'mon, guys, everyone wants to lead nations from the ancient times till the space colonization (remember Civilization series?)! :)

Considering it is called "CK2 exporter" i doubt it will be used for anything other than save game exporting. I just wonder how usable it will be (there was a save game exporter for one of the earlier games before the clausewitz engine. I'm not sure wich one but im pretty sure it didn't work that well :p)

I could use it, but to play against my CK2 country. Play CK2 and conquer half the world, then transfer that to EU4 and try to beat that huge blob with whatever's left of Castille, France or England.

It could also serve as a random world generator... run a hands-off game of Ck2 and transfer it to eu4.

Imagine:
Rome->CK2->EU4->V2->HOI3->...

I prefer

CK2 > EU4 > V3 > HOI4 > EvW

If you wanted to be all inclusive, you could use this format.
Rome 750BC - 500AD 1250 Years
CK 500 - 1444 944 Years
EU 1444 - 1836 392 Years
VIC 1836 - 1936 100 Years
HOI 1936 - 1950 14 Years
EvW 1950 - 1990 40 Years

There actually is a savegame exporter for CK2 to EU3 up in the CK2 user modifications subforum that does everything except sliders (which they do have the formulas down for I think but just aren't implemented or something) and wars atm, though it's currently for 1.092 of CK2.

When you start at 867, you already have 600 years of gameplay. ...I meant that AI controlled countries first conquer half of the world and then collapse, leaving one big mess...

Playing CK2 in observer mode for 600 years and then picking a piece out of that mess to play as in EU4 can be a great way to keep the map fresh. Having Saxony in 6 different places is a true possibility with CK2 - any of which might change your EU4 game strategy and tactics substantially.

The main thing is that they account for all the weird possibilities. For instance, there'll have to be a Zoroastrian religion, and preferably one for each of the TOG official religions (I wouldn't expect Hellenic, but everything else can survive and flourish, and probably shouldn't be just "animist" to avoid the problems this caused in EUIII) which wouldn't be in the real startdate. Some heresies should be considered as well, and definitely Miaphysite (though that should be in the base game). As well, what about Sunset Invasion imports? A SI import ought to have Westernised North American natives, which would be fun in and of itself.

Plus, there's the more mundane things like if there's three independant Muslim nations in Iberia, it shouldn't just make them into one "Granada". There presumably can't be a one-to-one ratio for tags given there uncountable numbers of them in CKII (not just every county, but religious heads, revolted mercenary fiefdoms, notable cultures like the Khazars, Abbasids and so forth). It'll also be curious to see how it represents the "other half" of the Mongol invasions that aren't on the CKII map. It'll be a bit disappointing if they all just show up in the standard provinces outside the CKII boundries regardless of whether they took over most of Europe or got ignonimously crushed. Other countries like the Seljuks should also be considered as to where their outside-the-map boundries should be.

It'd be a lot of work to do it well, but it'll be very neat if it actually does work.

Yeah, though I suppose they could have a converter module like the current one has. Anyhow, since titles are not specifically attached to cultures or other titles in a lot of senses, I was musing in the What Nation Will You Play thread. I have an empire of Francia ruled by an Occitan man whose ancestor that formed the empire was a Frankish man whose primary title was the King of Burgundy and whose spouse and child were both Breton... What nation's or group's ideas ought I to have?

If we can also get a EU4 -> Victoria 2 converter that would be awesome.

The converter that makes the most sense is CK2 > EUIV. The gameplay in Vicky is too different from EUIV. Plus there's a gap of a few decades. CK2 to EU makes sense because it's still the age of monarchs and in fact you still have monarchs and names and stats, it's just in a slightly altered way and also your dynasty ceases to be all important, it becomes about your country and the focus on exploration and trade and discovering the world.

It makes sense.

I wonder what a world where the Aztecs invaded Europe would look like.
The Aztec would have to be a pretty big blob considering they conquered the plains and Inca.

I'd love having my Hellenic Roman Empire spar with that on a world sized map.

I am pretty sure the Inca are not conquered by them: Incas inventing gunpowder is what weakened the Aztecs in CK2 :p
Hellenic religion will most likely not be supported by the exporter ^_^; (as it is not supported by CK2 either)
