but AE and OE are pronounced as /e/!?

As far as I know, if ⟨AE⟩ and ⟨OE⟩ have to be pronounced [ae̯] and [oe̯], because of the diphthong, ⟨Æ⟩ and ⟨Œ⟩ are ligatured to indicate, by mediæval convention, that it is a monophthong, hence have both to be pronounced [eː].

Google translate isn’t that bad in latin. It worked fir my homework a few years ago. German -> Latin. Got good grades for it.
English - Latin might even work better. You could just do that and make a few dozens of fans happy.

Sadly, we had to sacrifice Medieval Latin in order to make it approachable to modern audiences. I strongly argued in favor of Medieval Latin, but I can't deny the arguments in favor of modern Latin.

Hey, sometimes you gotta sacrifice artistic vision for accessibility, and I for one think that's a good thing: there's a reason the English translation doesn't use Old English!

All sorts of vile barbarian tongues are spoken by the uncouth subjects of the Republic. So was Aramaic used widely in the East, and weren't the gospels, core of the New Testament, written in Aramaic first? I don't know though, I'm no expert. Either way doesn't make Greek an imperial language.

I've never heard of the gospels being written in Aramaic first. Koine Greek was the lingua franca of its day, no reason to write in anything else (especially Luke and Mark, written for Greeks and Romans primarily).

In college, I took a course in Old and Middle English and had to read Caedmon's Hymn and Sir Gawaine and the Green Knight in their original Old and Middle English language respectively. It wasn't really so bad, actually.
