I don't mean to go off topic, but the mention of pirates bring something important up: naval battles. The navies are incredibly boring, and their only use is as a rather useful transportation method. However, things such as blockades, battles, and other things are non-existant for CK2, despite the rich naval history that happened, such as the invasions of Sicily, Apulia, etc.

I personally hope so much for naval mechanic. I think it's the only part what CKII completely lacks and cannot be done with mods.

Another example being the Fourth Crusade with the Venetians using their ships as a form of siege weapon as Constantinople while the Franks attacked from land. In fact, they were used to a greater result than the Frankish land siege.

Likewise the Venetian fleet had previously destroyed the Fatimid fleet allowing the Kingdom of Jerusalem to receive supplies relatively unhindered.

Naval combat and siege warfare are something which I feel desperately needs some love. It is needed both because it makes sense with historical precedence and s frustrating to not be able to employ a powerful navy, such as the the Venetian navy, to hold off an invasion which your own army cannot withstand. It sucks controlling the seas but having to sit helplessly as an invasion sails down the Adriatic, Baltic or through the Bosphorus.

Constantinople had in fact been attacked several times from the sea, even without a particularly important land siege effort o go along. Avars, Russ, Arabs have all tried some surprise attack from the sea. Control of the seas was essential for imperial security and should be better represented. Let us not forget that even Paris was sacked from the sea (well, from the river in that case) by the Vikings, completely out of the blue. A well placed Frankish fleet in the mouth of the Seine would have easily averted that !

I don't know a single mod that has anything to do with naval. That's why a say "cannot be done with mods". Do you remember when such a comment was made? The dev team change greatly a half year ago maybe they over thought that.

As far as I remember naval battles and blockades were supposed to be in the game from the start, but some problem arose and it wasn't possible to solve it so the systems were scrapped. Hence why you e.g. have a pirate faction in the game files (assuming it hasn't been removed; but it was there as recently as around half a year ago). You need to remember that back before the Steam Summer sale of 2012 (which was when CKII really took off) PI was a much smaller company where often hard decision had to be taken like e.g. axing a mechanic due to severe problems.

The drop could be gout. Well, in Portuguese both drop and gout are translated as 'gota'.
I rather doubt they would use Portuguese words for the trait icons.

or what they eventually did - build fortified bridges.

The obvious answer concerning the elephant is that there is a chance that instead of the black plague there is an equal chance that a sizeable part of europe is decimated by a huge elephant stampede sweaping the continent.

The parrot, I hope is a reference to the poem by Jack Skelton.

So maby siginifying polyglottism.

Looks interesting so far, but I do have a few questions. Like do we get a choice to what gruesome means to snuff out the life of our prisoners? Judging from the pic of the elephant and does that relate to some other mechanic? Like the more nightmarish the execution the more you would force your vassals and people to obey you but more and more executions in 'extravagant' manners could lead to other rebellions down the line or having other nobles flee to nearby kingdoms and tell their courts of your cruelty which would lead them to invade your lands in efforts to 'liberate' the people from your reign?

Second, would there also be other traits that could be a result at birth? For example, could one be born without the organs of speech thus giving them a 'Mute' trait? Or be born blind or deaf or lose them due to sickness at a young age like Helen Keller? Other physical abnormalities like albinism, gigantism, etc?
