The court size doesn't affect the likelihood of a province getting infected (that's tax rate) but it affects how likely a character in said court is to get the disease.

Remember "CROWDED_THRESHOLD_MODIFIER = 25, -- How many courtiers in a court to make it crowded and increase chance for disease." though

So in real life if someone told you "there's plague in Genoa", it meant they probably had come from Genoa, which meant they could carry the plague. Even if they didn't, other travelers from Genoa were probably not far. You only had a small window to close the gates before it was probably too late.

But in the game with instant diplomatic communication, you'll probably be able to see the plague spread and be prepared to close the gates when it comes too close. Don't you worry that this might either lessen the spread of the epidemics or make quarantines way less effective than they should be?

Not permanent, but for several decades certainly.

There is a crowded court modifier that makes disease more likely, yes.
Not normally, although in Seclusion...

No biological warfare.
Decades is not enough, you have viking raids destroying buildings, well the viking raids didn't cause a thousandth of the damage to europe that the plague did. Also having the plaque cause considerable damage would give you something to actually spend money on late game.
If future crusader kings games have a little more overlap with Europa universalis (and the dynastic mechanics are better suited for much of the early eu period anyway) then the 1300ds plaque would be a great time to unlock some mechanic changes becuase it changed the face of europe.

You need to be somewhat able to avoid the plague, since just having your whole family get it and die would be no fun. Survivors get to deal with the aftermath. Having said that, shutting yourself in your castle for years to avoid it isn't exactly the most healthy thing to do either.

Are there going to be "end is nigh!" preacher events, once the plague starts sweeping the population?

(can't remember if there are already such events in the game)

Wait... If the black death happens earlier does the game end earlier as Feudalism evolves or does the game last even longer as Feudalism is never truely broken? Changing when the Black Death (or another epidemic) happens would change the period socially so much.

I like this a lot. If setting the date for Black Death appearance is a slider, would it be possible to add more than just 200 years in and 1300+? Like say I wanted it to dynamically have the chance to appear 200 years earlier, 1100+, but definitely did not want it earlier than that. Could that be a thing?

I added this to the game rules, it's going to be called 'Delayed Dynamic' .

Do we also get more options to control our court? Like being able to refuse random courtiers to join?

Would you add an overpopulation modifier to provinces that do not experience war, plague, or raiders for a decent amount of time. The modifier could act as the opposite of the depopulation modifier but add a unrest penalty to signify the increased unemployment and food shortages.

Also will you be adding religious events for the plagues like rampant persecution of the Jews (or other minorities) or an increase in heresy like the Flagellants?

One way would be to have actual monastical order, so when someone take vow they actually go to them, would finally give us a way to get rid of old ladies beside murder.
