Not to complain, I like the changes, but honestly, zombies? Was that even a thing before the 20th century? I would think there are other beliefs the Middle Age people feared would happen, the apocalypse, another universal flood or something, but don't remember reading any middle age general beliefs about zombies.

Eternal life don't care about what's in your pants. As an aside, we were fairly inclusive with stuff in general for this patch, partly because why not and partly because you can set the equality game rule.

Will you also make a pass on old events with this new feature in mind? On top of considering it right away for new ones.

Yes, in various cultures. They were not called zombies and where characteristically different (no "braaaiiinnnns"), but walking dead, ghosts and revenants - superstition about death in general, was very commonplace.

The idea of the dead rising was a common thought for the Medieval mind, it signified the end times in Christian theology, so would be something to be celebrated.

Yes. Various laws, titles etc got a look too. Of course there's a lot of places so I doubt we got them all, but work has certainly begun.

Based on how death-focused this DLC seems to be, "End of Days" would be a good title.

You all probably did that on purpose, but I'm still not clear on what you mean by "immortal life", whether it's a "maybe magic, maybe mundane" type event similar to the Hellgate, or if there is actual immortality in the game now.

From what I recall about modding immortality is already in the game as a mechanic, so I am genuinely curious to see what this is all about.

Though, I'm figuring the "zombies" fall more on to the "explainable phenomena misinterpreted by lack of modern knowledge" side of things like, again, the Hellgate.

You know what would be really cool? A total (optional) UI make-over. With all of the dreariness and misery that's coming with this DLC, it would be awesome if the game could be changed in ways to reflect this and put somber, dark tones into the interface, and maybe even the sound effects from button clicks and all of that. No idea how difficult such an endeavour would be, but I can dream, right? Or rather, have a dark fantasy nightmare . . .

Unfortunately looks like Paradox run out of ideas for CK2 but still needs the money from DLC sales.
I only guess that the next DLC will have dragons involved.

Doesn't the idea of the dead rising go aaaaallllll the way back to the bible?

And if you really detest the idea you can just switch it off and still keep things like the new plague system and the prosperity mechanic. The people throwing their toys out of the box over this are being silly.

When I read this DD's title, I thought : "At long last, a year 1000 event chain about people prophetizing the end of the world at the turn of the century !" as it happened historically.

Then I read about zombies and eternal life and understood that PDX had decided to give the finger to historicity once again and ruin what seemed to be an awesome DLC up until today.

What I don't understand is how a DLC (apparently) about medicine and science could be the recipient of fantasy stupidity... :p

There has been lots of myths regarding walking dead, which is not necessarily zombies. Take draugr for example, which the vikings believed to be drowned dead, or revenants, about which stories arose from Western Europe during the Middle Ages.

It would be awesome but totally not going to happen because the amount of work would be incredible. If you are curious just take a look at the gfx files, so many things would have to be edited and redone.
