Ck2 crashes on startup 3.0.1

the game has run perfectly up to now. However, after updating to the last patch 3.0.1 it crashes on startup. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, updated my video driver, and have no non-official paradox mods running. I am at a loss of what the problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem as well. The game was working fine until yesterday, when it crashed while loading graphics. No mods running, and I have tried all methods above as well.

Not sure if this will work, but try turning off your antivirus completely, launch CK2, play for a few minutes, then quit. After that, you can turn your antivirus back-on, and CK2 should launch just fine.

I think CK2 has to initialize some files the first time it launches after downloading a new patch, which your antivirus program perceives as a threat.

I have CK2.exe on my anti-virus exception list, but it still kills the program the first time I launch CK2 if the anti-virus is on. Hope this helps.

Run the game without the mod and check if it works. If so, it is about the mod.

You can make a new text file called userdir.txt in the folder where ck2game.exe is. Then place a single dot in it.
This worked for me
