Hi.
I am currently fielding an acer aspire 5553g (Yes, I know it is ancient, but so far it has suited my needs.) with 4gb ram, a decent cpu and decent graphics.
My problem is that within the last month or so the game's performance (Other games, like King Arthur: The roleplaying war-game too) has become increasingly sluggish meaning that everything reacts SOO SLOWLY! I have to count to 4 before the ck2 menu buttons highlight so you can imagine what it gets like when it actually starts going. I have tried updating everything from display drivers to windows update, nothing helps. I even tried to swipe my laptop back to fabrication standards.
So I started to read about different symptoms and I have found the issue I think: Cached memory.
This is when my pc is idle besides chrome with few tabs including the paradox plaza:
And this is when my pc is running CK2, whilst only in the start menu:
As you can see I have more than a full GB of Cached Memory that windows 7 won't relinquish, even though multiple sources on the internet states that it most definitely should, since it is "available" for your uses. Then I tried to search for ways to fix it and came up with Memory optimizers who half the people on the windows forums condemn and the other half highly recommend. And I know close to zero about these issues so I am caught in the middle.
If you have any suggestions at all, please help me. I really enjoy playing CK2 and the different mods but as is, it is a very unpleasant experience with huge stuttering and it baffles me because I haven't had this issue before.
